I am extremely concerned that the deadline for the petition to the PM to keep regulated card clubs open has so few signatures, and feel that this is not going to be taken seriously unless we obtain at least 10,000 signatures. Therefore I urge everyone that if you wish to help DTD open, and save places like The Western, Gutshot, etc. and keep well regulated card clubs in legal business to take action now.

Therefore I'm asking everyone who reads this to please send an e-mail to everyone they know to please sign the petition as soon as possible, and then in turn ask them to forward the e-mail to all the people they know, and so on... the closing deadling is June 5th

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Poker-UK/ - this is the URL to the petition... it will take just two minutes to sign, and then confirm your e-mail address. It will take maybe three more minutes to send the e-mail to all of your poker playing friends and ask them to forward it onto all of theirs.

For these five minutes, you could be making a life changing decision to how you can play poker in this country.

The petition you're signing is as follows:

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to to classify Poker as a prescribed game under the 2005 Gambling Act, in line with the games of Bridge and Whist. More details

Submitted by Jonathan Curtis of UK Poker Club Association – Deadline to sign up by: 05 June 2007 – Signatures: 680

Thanks for your time in reading this, and thanks in advance for your efforts.

Scott.

Erm the western, gutshot etc. are illegal and so are not the same as DTD.
If they wanna take a shortcut then they take their chances, personally i think all illegal clubs should close, there is a reason for legislation in this country.

What I was gonna say rodders is you cant class DTD in with the others as it has gone down the legal route.

Close enough but i always love the way ian puts things so didnt (couldnt) top it!

I am extremely concerned that the deadline for the petition to the PM to keep regulated card clubs open has so few signatures,

until DTD opens there is no such thing so petitioning to keep them open is silly as there is not any open

now if you got a petition to regulate poker clubs in such a way as bingo halls for example then you might find more people willing to sign up

The petition is

"Making Poker a prescribed game would allow regulated Poker to be played outside of a casino environment in private members’ Poker clubs.

This petition has been laid by the UK Poker Club Association (UKPCA). The UKPCA has been set up by 13 of the UK’s leading private members’ Poker clubs to assist Poker players and private members' clubs who are concerned by aspects of the regulations laid out in the Gambling Act 2005."

Sounds resonable to me.
