OT greyhound racing
«

I am going to Wimbledon to watch some dog racing on Saturday. I don't know anything at all about it. Anyone here got any good advice, strategies or links so that I don't lose too much money?
Thanks.

not really but the best betting, imho, would be a reverse bet, so for example 1 dog and 2 dog reversed. so they'd need to come 1st and 2nd between them. There are screens up usually that show the popularity of the dogs too so you can pick the two favourites and use them or any you like.

The track has been favouring the wide runners (traps 4,5+6) in recent major competitions.
Have a good time greyhoud racing is tremendous craic

Is it generally considered that Greyhound racing is "bent" or is this a huge generalisation?
stories of feeding the dogs just before off, slowing them down etc
I think going, which I have twice, is fun, but I must admit I thought the whole betting lark was incredibly easy to rig...

Ive heard that its as dodgy as you can get in sport. There's a lot they can do to effect the dogs chances but whether it goes on or not I don't know. There was a program on it a bit back, but for the amounts I get stuck in for, its no big odds. It can work either way for me. I rarely follow the odds unless I like the look of it and I just go for a night out.
Bit like horse racing really, fixing seems to happen all the time there!

Cheers for the comments, I knew somone round here would know about it
Silo is right that I don't know anything about greyhound betting really, as despite gambling on most things, I have never been before. I mentioned the track though as I wondered if anyone here would know it. I had heard this idea that certain traps can be favoured before. I am just going for a fun night out, but like all gambilng I like to understand how it works as much as possible so I can at least have some value in my bets.
My basic observation was that favourites are poor value, since a lot can go wrong, dog gets impeded, distracted, drugged, toenails tied toegether, gets friendly with lady dog etc. Is this right?

hope this isnt considered spam if it is then the mods can remove it
my mate Stevie 'The Bald Beast' has a blog
http://baldisthenewblack.blogspot.com/
he bets on wimbledon almost every meet and has several shares in greyhounds under the connection name DOGOLPHIN (think that's magic!!) post on his blog and I am sure he will give you some advice on how to maximize your enjoyment.
One warning he goes on more than me and Ariston combined (by his own admission).

lol @ getting friendly
You can get massive odds on dogs with the nearest being something silly like 6/1 which anywhere else you wouldnt entertain but its always worth a punt in dogs. This is why i like the old reverse forcasts. an odds on and an outside to finish 1 & 2 will net you a tidy profit from a couple of pounds. Ive had bets on 2 dogs for £1 (£2 total) that have brought me in nearly £30.
Also, betting at the tote is cheaper. They have a minimum bet of about £5 at the bookies out front but a lot less at the tote (its only 40p at Reading)
Its a great night out though - have fun and I hope you get some winners

... and I had the pleasure of sitting next to him on the NECC Pot Limiot Comp that Sunday. I thought it had lasted for hours, but it just felt that way
At least I had a bit of glamour on my left hand side
