The Football Association has confirmed that Luis Suarez's eight-match ban could be extended if he appeals against the suspension.

The Uruguayan was handed an eight-match ban on Tuesday when a three-man Independent Regulatory Commission appointed by the FA found him guilty of guilty of misconduct after Manchester United defender Patrice Evra accused the forward of racially abusing him.

Liverpool reacted with fury to the decision and an appeal from Anfield looks inevitable.

However, the Merseyside giants are still waiting for the full written judgement before deciding on their next course of action.

The FA has now revealed that the ban can be increased, reduced or cancelled altogether by an appeal board.

Team soildarity to be commended even if the sense of injustice is misplaced (which I have to say it isn't - 8 match ban is the OTT thing in all this )

His team mates are showing their solidarity by saying Suarez isn't a racist, but this is what Evra said. He wasn't found guilty of being a racist, he was found guilty of making a racist remark. The FA are saying there's no place for racist remarks on a football field and accept Suarez isn't a racist. Do the Liverpool players and fans think this whole mess could have been settled with a handshake at the end of the game instead?

My point is that a public display such as that over something so serious is not appropriate imo. Keep that in the dressing room
