85/86 - League title, FA Cup 86/87 - 87/88 - League title 88/89 - FA Cup 89/90 - League title 90/91 - Left the club at the top of the league and still in the FA Cup.
One season without silverware before he left (three league title and two FA Cups). Where's the failure?
(Yes, they drew 4-4 with Everton the match before he left. They were 3 points clear at the top of the table at the time)

Lol at the pressure at Blackburn. Keep them in the league and decent cup runs then you are doing the job. Jack walker set out to fulfill his life long ambition and achieved this and won't chuck the money in himself to repeat. Liverpool are still one of the top 5 clubs worldwide and with their fan base should be able to make a realistic challenge on our domestic title.
I did not realise they were winning the league at the time of his resignation tbh. I seemed to recall it came after a 4-4 draw but I may have been wrong.
He won the title at Blackburn. What do you mean by Jack Walker wont throw his own money in to repeat?

Looking for the embarrassed smiley but can't find it. I just read the piece that quote came from too. I know other than the glorious night in Istanbul the last 20 years have seen very little success. It only seems like yesterday that Kenny was at the helm when infact it was 20 years ago.

Jack walker Invested the money in his team that was required to win the league, just as Roman A did for Chelsea. He achieved his ambition and I doubt if mr Walker could afford the sort of sums to pay for the players needed to win the league as he did in the mid 90's or even has the desire to. Having the best players without a decent manager or the best manager without decent players ain't gonna win anything. You can't polish turds, the best you can do is roll em in glitter

Kenny will be given time cos he's Kenny. Similar to Keegan at Newcastle. They just can't do any wrong in the eyes of the fans.
Liverpool have been better under Hodgson but it's like comparing Wenger with Bruce Rioch at Arsenal.
His signings, on the whole, have been piss poor

He has certainly paid ott for a few of his signings, it's his handling of Carroll though that suprises me most. I've said it before but I've always liked Liverpool as I think the fans are similar in quite a few ways to us so would like to see them do well, thought they had a very strong chance of top 4 but that doesn't like true at the minute.

When were Liverpool better under Hodsgon. Think we had a handful of decent performances, and that's pushing it.

I can assure you that on other LFC forums I read that Kenny is far from being above criticism, he has been getting slaugtered in some quarters. That 5 at the back and Dirk up top on his own against Stoke went down like a lead balloon. Another gripe is the persistence of playing the ineffective Downing and the leper like treatment of Maxi.

I would comfortably take a cup win this season and not worry too much about the league. Most teams, including Chelsea & Man City have had cup wins to push them on another level. give em the taste of success.
I don't think kenny will be there for years to come, the game has passed him by a little. However he will get them in good shape and sort out the youngsters to come through, something he has always excelled at!
