Because you always have to overpay relatively for talent when you think you should be in the champions league but you are not (you are close to 80% likely not to be in the Champs league next season).  Just like Manure did this year and Man City did before they were a powerhouse.  Less players will be willing to play for liverpool at sterlings level of talent so his agent will have more power to get a higher price for his client.  Simple supply and demand.

They might, but I don't seer why they have to give him a new contract this summer.

The reality in this day and age is that no matter what Rodgers says if he wants to go in the summer he will. It sounds very much like he's been tapped-up.

FA Cup would help.  CL a must.  No CL I think he'll create noises to look to go.  How loud those noises are in the summer will dictate whether he goes this summer or next summer.

Only if Liverpool are offered what they feel is enough for him.  Nothing to stop them refusing any offers and making Sterling stay for another season on £35K a week.

What's his market value anyway?

I would expecting at least £40m this summer as an absolute minimum

Carragher calls Sterling's interview "a disgrace".

Is that the end?

Not sure why an ex Liverpool player, now working in the media determines the transfers at Liverpool?

Seriously? If he's only worth £25m in today's market he's surely not worth over £100k a week then?

Behave!

It's not Aquilani or Biscan making these comments. It's one of your all time great players who's a local boy who has just retired from a one club career.

Carragher gets it badly wrong by criticising a current Liverpool player in a scummy newspaper?

Agreed.
Who, apart from Carragher, does that article help?
