Hi lads,

Count me in. The only worry is the injuries folk pick up when they have not run for years. The last time I tried this with a group we changed our mind after a month or so. Lots of stress injuries. We ended up doing the three peaks challenge. I have to say it was the best event I have ever done. It is a team walking event. You have to get very fit for endurance and it lasts 24 hours. You need teams of up to six walkers and two drivers per team. The challenge is to walk up Ben Nevis then drive down to Scarfell before finishing at the top of Snowdon.  The highest mountain in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours.  How about that for a challenge and I can get us some places.!!!

Let me know when you plan to do it again. Sounds like my kind of thing:)

And we could take rod paradise with us. He promised me a game of 'High' stakes poker a while back.

Count me in on the 3 peaks aswell if you have spaces- i do a lot of tabbing over the beacons following the routes that SAS do on selection up there, yet to do the full 20 hour tab yet though, save that for mid summer!!!

lmao off...Tabbing? I dont think i'll be tabbing unless its helping to build the weight on your back as you lead the tab!!!!

lol!

OK - I need motivation to get fit but I do have a knee injury that flares up from time to time. (Just getting my excuse in now in case I change my mind)

Has anything been decided on this yet? I don't fancy the peaks thing unless I'm only the driver........ Grin  But the run might be ok.

Well im definately up for the peaks thing and the half marathon, even if only one other blonde commits to either, that will be enough motivation for me!

I'll be running some 10Ks, a half-marathon in the Autumn and a few in the Spring, and hopefully London in April 2008.

I can draw up a list of events if that'll help?

I suggest we get some time frames on here for people to be at a certain level by. e.g. by end of month 2 you can run a 5k?

Just a suggestion and can be adapted to approprite level dedpendant upon people's fitness, found some guides here:

Any thought's?

You raise a good point there Eck.  It might be easier for many to target running a 10K - rather than a half-marathon.  Then, once the 10K's done, the half-marathon can be the next challenge.

A 10K is easier to achieve in a shorter time frame (obviously), and might not be as daunting to some.  Also, once the 10K is done, the next 10K will be easy(er), and the half-marathon won't look anywhere near as daunting.

please mate, that'll be a big help. I'm happy to go with pretty much anything, but I do think the sooner we have a target to acheive the easier it will be for us to get motivated.

Agreed - running for the bus is daunting at the moment!

Tell you what, I nominate Kinboshi as the would-be organiser of the blonde Half-Marathon.

We will call him Marathon Man, which should not be confused with his eating habits or sexual longevity.
