I just can't believe it. Am in tears right now.
My phone went dead on Friday night so I couldn't even answer the phone when the trainer tried ringing me when it happened. I checked the result half hour after finish and rang trainer on Ling's phone knowing that Rodney was somehow injured by the comments & Distance he got beaten.
When Mick told me he had broke his leg I was obviously gutted but that was nothing compared to when he said they couldnt do anything and had to put him down. It was while I was sitting at the bar at Alea, so apologies to anyone who I seemed a bit short with but I just sat in a corner and cried.
It didn't take me long to realise that, although I know that dogs can get injured etc, I couldn't handle losing Rodney. I deciced to get Cassie withdrawn from her race today, and left Leeds at 8am this morning to pick her up on my way home. I have brought her home and she will no longer be racing. Some may call me silly etc but i'm not having her taken away too.
Rodney was such a great dog with a one of a kind personality. The silly things he used to do made everyone he met laugh. I loved bringing him up despite him wanting to create plenty of difficulties !
I love him so much and will miss him even more.

Absolutely gutted to hear the sad news ... I know more than most what the dogs mean to you mate, and totally and utterly understand why you have pulled Cassie out of the game ... I hope she brings you years of happy times and companionship.
RIP Rodders & thanks for the memories.

R.I.P. Rodney.
Really gutted for you all.
Hopefully in time you will return to this great sport.
I know my fella at home would give anything for a return to the track!

on behalf of rooks ling and myself id like to thank you all for the kind words and pms that have been sent.
we are all hurting badly, i personally have a constant sick feeling in my stomach.
rooks has cassie home now, she will help to ease his pain. see her earlier she looked fantastic. its gona be all new to her getting used to being spoilt again.i couldnt stop cuddling her.
i cant bare to read through this thread again but hope to at some point in the future i will as i want to remember all the good things rodney brought into our lives if only for a short while.
rodney was a special dog, we said that before he died, different to any dog ive ever known, he will be missed greatly x
