Tony out in 7th.

Ah well, you can't win em all. (apparently)

Another good showing though, especially after a nasty accident with AA in the early stages.

Thanks for the nice comments, I'm having a bit of a run of luck at the moment to be honest.

I've got some interesting tales from Newcy for you but first up, a BIG thanks to Chris & his Team, WHAT a great comp they put on. I proposed to 3 of the Dealers, but Rebecca, oh Rebecca, lets just do it Darling.......(Or was it Rachel?)

Chris is a truly top bloke, could not do enough to help the players.

62 runners, £200 Double Chance Freeze, 10k starting Chips, (2 x 5k). 45 minute clock, all the way.

All Levels, including McReady-Minor, but NOT McCready-Major. After 200-400, we went 300-600, 400-800, 500-1,000, 600-1,200 etc. May not be to everyone's taste that, but I'd play that 7 days a week.

21 returned today at 3.30, & there were 6 left when I exited at 8.15pm & set off for Bolton, where I am now.

Can't praise the Grosvenor Newcastle Staff highly enough, & the players too.

I only got 7th for £620, but that's as good as I can play, to be honest, I was delighted to even make Day Two all things considered.

We began with the first 5k, & I ran it up to 7k pretty quickly.

Then I got  at 50-100, & Gary Raised it up to 300 from early position, lovely. I wanted to keep him, so just went the 3 with another 500 - mistake! He called with  & bet out on the  flop.........well, that fooled me completely, I kinda put him on AK, KK or QQ, so that was my first 5k gone, I had 1,200 left so took my second 5k there & then.

I got really busy, but missed everything, & with blinds at 200-400, I was down to 2,100, poo.

Then I managed a double Up, but no hands at all, nothing, for the rest of Day One, & it was a cling-on miracle, I just nurdled & fiddled & diddled, & finished the Day as Billy Low Stack (there's a novelty.....) with 11,700, Blinds about to go to 800-1,600.

Today was completely the opposite, I won the first 3 hands on the bounce, 7-7, A-Q & 9-9, & gradually run my stack up to 75k for the 9 man Final thanks to some nice starting equipment.

I had a weird hand with 14 left, my first "Premium" since the Aces on Day One, K-K this time. I got looked up - needed to, I was at about 19k at this stage. He shows  , & we see the Board like this.....

(shit!)    (phew)  (damn, I'm done for, AND he still has the Royal Flush Draw & flush draw)  - SPLIT POT!

I found Aces again, got looked up by A-7, no dramas, & I'm in the Final with 75k.

And that was that, never won a hand, only played two I think. Bled down to 22k, (blinds now 3k-6k) could not find a spot to move with, guy to my right had Raised my blind a lot. I find A-J, he Raises again, I make a daft push & he's got me all wrapped up with A-K. What an awful play! I have a golden rule when short-stacked (& I've had a bit of practice....), ALWAYS move first, even with 7-3, rather than call with a marginal. I was 2 spots from Posting 9k of blinds, some mitigation I suppose, but still a mistake, though the first I'd made all Tourney I think. Need to concentrate better. Did not know whether to shoot myself for the bad play or accept that I'd done well to Final. Anyway, happy enough with £620.

We had been playing about 2 hours on Day One when this goes off. Some sussy Raising & Calling pre-flop, & it's a three way affair, on a Flop of

And chips are flying in all directions like you can't believe, THREE folks all-in. On their backs......

Set over Set over Set! I don't recall seeing a Flop like that before. Winner scooped about 40k!

Talking of things I'd not seen before, when we had the mid-evening 20 minute break on Day One an amazing thing happened - we had to bag up & seal our chips! For a 20 minute break!

Chris said to me "well, this IS Newcastle".......

As it happens, when we returned for Day Two (of course we'd bagged & tagged & signed for our chips at close of play as per normal), one guy reckoned that 1,800 chips werre missing from his sealed & signed bag. Very odd. Just a mistake I think.

Only had one complaint, & that was on Day One, they had a "turn" on during our mid-evening break, some geezer who looked like Elton John dressed up as Freddie Mercury. Quite good actually, but WAY too loud. Peeps were hiding in the bogs, I went outside to the Car Park, folks were running out with their ears bleeding. I mean, it was so loud it hurt. It actually drove Guests out of the Casino, they were moaning & groaning as they departed.

The players got together, & we decided either to each chip in £10 to pay the guy off for the night, (he had a second stint due later) or refuse to play until he finished. As luck would have it, Chris sorted it, he got an extra 10 minutes, we all jumped in the Tyne to escape while he wound up his act, & that was that.

The thing is, he was actually pretty good, but he had his amp turned up to maximum, & it actually hurt folks ears, & there was nowhere in the building to escaoe to. 30 of us - THIRTY - were stood in pissing rain in the Car Park, all for the sake of turning it down a bit.
