Check out the voting website for the 7 new wonders of the world, they are choosing a new 7... The Pyramids has been taken off the voting list after Egypt kicked up a big fuss, but there are still 20 to choose from, some amazing sights...

The Maoi heads on Easter Island are 25 metres tall, which I can't quite imagine how they would look, awe-inspiring...

Well I'm gonna nominate a WOTW from St Petersburg, Russia.

I could actually mention several from the same City, which must be the World's most fascinating & beautiful City.

But I'll go for the Winter Palace, maybe the finest building of it's type in the world. On one side, the imposing square, and it fronts the River Neva (?) on the other side. Inside, it houses the Hermitage Museum, maybe the world's best Art Gallery.

The Square has a huge obelisk in the centre, carved from solid granite, weighing 700 tons, very very tall & slim. It's free-standing, not fixed at all. it just sits there! One wonders how they got the damn thing upright three centuries ago. Think about THAT, with ropes & pulleys or whatever. Sits on a big plinth, too.

There are some stunning churches, too, & 32 Palaces in total, of which one is a casino, The Taleon Club. ( I got 2nd in their Main Event a few years back, busting one Tony G along the way).

Nevsky Boulevard is long, straight & wide, & features several beautiful bridges. Then there is the Peter & Paul Fortress, there's some story there.

And of course the Train Station, Moscow Station as it's called.......spent a whole day there. Well you have to, eh?
