You see an object in front of you: your computer speaker. You see what it is: a computer speaker. You see where it is: beside your computer. Your brain is aware of these things. But the notion of what it is and where it is are processed by two totally different parts of the brain. Thus some blind people, while unable to tell you what you are holding, can, if asked, reach out and touch it. Bizaaare.

It does. I've just realized about one of the points you made, I think you're totally right. If you turn the light on in your room, the light is all around you. It shows up on the surfaces of objects, but it is not ON the surfaces of objects alone, in fact it is everywhere in the room. You cannot see it, even though it is in front of you, until it hits something. The photon itself has to be travelling towards your eye for you to notice it.

This is an amazing fact... We done this in school in physics... The teacher to prove his point turned on the lights so the room was bright,, then held a torch at floor level (below a desk) and turned it on,,, You could not see the beam of light, you could only see it when it reflected of the ceiling and was reflected in a straight line to your eye.... He then went on to further illustrate this.... As you can imagin at 16 this was amazing,, but hard to get your headf around...
