Cash - Hurt
What a song!
And the 'just missed' is supposed to be one that's really crappy.
I don't really like Diamond Lights.

Cash - Hurt
What a song!
You guys realise that Hurt by Johnny Cash is a cover.
Oddly enought the original is actual by Nine Inch Nails.

Oh Jammer I know.
Saw the Nails a few weeks ago, that Kurt is out there baby.
Cash's version just adds a little something.
Just sat down to play my first game since posting and somebody has a Bob Marley aviator.
I missed Bob off my list. . . . .Foregive me lord for I have sinned.

I can't argue with you. One of the last songs cash ever recorded, and drenched full of meaning after his wife's death. A flipping amazing version.

How exciting, i love doing song lists! It is VERY hard though to just pick 10. They are ever changable also but here is my current top 10.

The Smiths - Girl Afraid
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Sexy Mexican Maid
Sly & the Family Stone - Everybody is a Star
Radiohead - Street Spirit [Fade Out]
Nirvana - Rape Me
Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove
The Doors - People are Strange
Janes Addiction - 3 Days
Kings of Leon - Holy Roller Novocaine
On the bubble LFC - Anfield Rap

Resisting the temptation to list about a thousand, here's an almost random selection of faves in no particular order:
1.The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again
2. Van Morrison - TB Sheets
3.Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries
4. Eddie and the Hot Rods - Do Anything You Wanna Do
5.Duke Ellington - Caravan
6.Tom Waits - Tom Traubert's Blues (Three Sheets To The Wind In Copenhagen)
7.James Brown - Get Up, I Feel Like Being A Sex Machine
8.Bob Marley and The Wailers - Exodus
9.Marianne Faithful - The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan
10. Little Feat - Rock 'n Roll Doctor
Near misses (restricted to number one hits only):
Paul Macartney - Mull of Kintyre
Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart
Grandma - St Winifred's.....no...no........can't go on.................it's too awful to contemplate...........
12barcoulddothiseverydayforamonthblues
P.S. Agree about 'Hurt'. With the accompanying video, it's gut-wrenchingly powerful stuff. Who would have thought Johnny Cash covering a Nine Inch Nails song would produce a masterpiece. Now there's an idea for another thread....cover versions (good and bad)......

Hmmmmmm, I always find this question really hard to answer, especially as my taste varies so much. I'm bound to remember loads of top tracks later, but for now i'll have a quick stab at it.
In no particular order:
The Four Seasons...............Vivaldi
Days Go By........................Dirty Vegas
Iris.....................................Goo Goo Dolls
Don't want to miss a thing... Aerosmith ( yes i'm a soppy cow)
Everybody Hurts..................R.E.M
With Or Without You............U2
Hotel California....................Eagles
Alanis Morrisette.................You Oughta Know
Source...............................You Got The Love
Insomnia.............................Faithless
Oh damn, that's 10 already!!!! eeeeeerrrm, well others that would be/should be in there too:
Tomcraft.........Loneliness
Evanescence..My Immortal
Enigma.........Sadness
Oasis............Champgne Supernova
Seal.............Killer (ft.adamski)
Actually who am i kidding
,I could go on for ages. When we do a top 100 then I'll have another go lol.

Hard to say really, it is Seal's song but you're correct (i'm pretty sure anyway) that when it first came out it was listed the other way around.
