LOL - its like the Cheddar Bob scene from 8-mile! Hard to believe anyone would actually be stupid enough to do this.
More to the point, surely an NFL player has enough money to go to nightclubs that aren't hoodrat hangouts and hence probably no need to carry a piece.

As those types of clubs go, that's actually one of the better ones in Manhattan.

There has to be a good pun in that - wide receiver, fumble, end zone... just can't quite think of one that works though. ANDREW!!!!

Trump Trumped?
A cracking piece in today's Independent.
Donald Trump almost went skint in the nineties, but somehow, using the most intricate "financial engineering", (insert appropriate phrase....) he recovered. So much so, that when a book cited him as being a "millionaire", he sued them- "I'm a bilionaire, not a millionaire". Shades of pride before a fall, there.
But he's in deep poo now. He owns hundreds of businsses, & scores of them have had to halt new-build construction work, or default on loans.
He missed an interest payment yesterday on his Casino business, which owns three big Casnos in Atlantic City, & much more besides. The interest payment was $53,000,000.
A project in Philadelphia - the new "Trump Tower" (he loves naming Projects after himself) has ceased construction, the Builder won't continue unil he's coughed up some dosh.
But it's a sideline in the story which caught my eye. He's being sued by Deutsche Bank for defaulting on a $334 million loan for a new-build Tower in Chicago which will be (if completed....) taller than the Empire State Building.
And it's in this example where we see the real Donald Trump. Instead of defending the suit - he has not paid up, end of story, you might say - he counter-sued Deutsche Bank.
His grounds for the counter-suit? He claims that the credit crunch is a
force majeure
, effectively an act of God. Financial engineering at it's very best.
As to his controversial proposed Golf Course on the East coast of Scotland, forget it - it ain't gonna happen.

I wish!
I'm working tonight, Online, for Sky Poker, in their "Play The Presenter"
jobbie
promotion.
I'd so love to play that Comp, it's the perfect size for me, & I have a good track record at Luton, C & D winner.
What's even more galling, is that I'm 200 yards from the G-Luton - in the Days Inn. Sigh. I might just wander across after I've finished - Midnight - to play some Cash.
I do plan to play tomorrow's £200 Omaha though. I am, in fact, iirc, the reigning Champion. It was a 40 odd runner Comp last year, & we chopped it about 19 ways I think.......
Rob Garfield finalled, & I doubled through when me & he got it all-in after I flopped a straight on a 2-4-5-9-J board. He called all-in on the end, & said "I have 2 pairs", & then Tabled his hand - Q-Q-7-7. Rob had never played Omaha before. Tough Comp to win, that baby.
Might see you later.
Last night's Comp was thoroughly enjoyable, great craic, good table companions all night, I loved every moment. I fiddled & diddled into 14th or 15th, & £200, without a single pair above sixes. apart from a few misreads, that is. Incredibly satisfying, even a minor cash, when you get no starting material.
There was THE most comical hand involving the eventual winner, Bingo Bill, but that'll have to wait until later, I need some kip.

Jeez, what a week I've had, so much to catch up on - a cocktail of huge fun, & incredible angst, the latter caused by
people wasting/stealing my time
, which I will never forgive.
Bit hard on Tank to be fair - we all make mistakes.

Lol, I forgot about that!
Tank is a god, (small "g"), he could never upset me. What you see is what you get with him. You should see his silly floppy hat.

Camel's Blog has now almost died - 2 Entries this year - but at one time, it was the best blog by a poker player ever. A nice blend of poker, non-poker, & cutting wit. The birth of Jake changed his priorities, fair comment.
Another one-time super-Blog was "Extempore", by Paul "Dotcom" Phillips, who abandoned poker in favour of Scrabble ("because I'd prefer to use my brain properly than play poker"), and hiis Blog is updated much less frequently these days. Again, being a father changed everything. His eldest, Ivy, must be about 4 or 5 now, & the youngest, Ruby, is still in nappies. His Blog almost revolves around his kids now, & his wonder at their growing up, with frequent "out of the mouth of babes" quotes. Parent-pride, such a wonderful thing.
He was a thorn in the poker establishment's flesh for a few years, & I seem to recall he got Banned by Harrah's, & thus the WSOP. Like he gave a toss.
He continues to take a sideways glance at the Establishment, & is a fierce Government opponent. He managed to unearth this pearl of wisdom recently.....
The Securities and Exchange Commission (“Commission”) is adopting an interim final temporary rule ...
As to Blogs by pokerists generally, it seems to be a fashion that is dying - there seems to be very few good ones out there right now - or am I looking in the wrong places? I don't want Poker-only Blogs, I want "mixed" Blogs written by poker players. Any ideas?
As to who would make great poker-based bloggers,
Neil
Channing
springs to mind, also Miss Jen Mason. As would Karl "Dry 'Em" Mahrenholz, who currently sticks almost solely to poker in the superb "Hit Squad" Blog. If he were to spread his pen beyond poker, he'd be excellent. Or even excellenter. In Brighton last week, half the field for the Main Event got pretty het up about paying a £50 Reg Fee, (£500 Event) AND having to pay for the buffet. But Karl got there first - nearly two months ago, with this.....
the ever over expensive Seattle hotel which came in second in the value stakes only to a tournament with £50 juice that wanted to charge for a buffet. Frankie & Bennys ftw.
As to the greatest poker writer ever, well, that's easy, & Thewy & I grew up reading this man's wonderful pennage. He was THE best. He was a close friend of
Phil
Hellmuth
, & won a few bob as a player himself, though he suffered health problems with a dicky back. Whe it was announced that he'd passed away, the poker world were in shock. Later, to everyone's mortificatiion, it emerged he'd taken his own life. But time moves on so fast in poker, & I bet hardly anyone remembers that guy. Do you?

Er, Andy Glazer?
Meat & drink to a man as widely-read as you, Andrew. You must have been in poker a few years - Andy died in 2004, I think. He was the absolute nuts when it came to Tourney Reports, but I fear few have even heard of him. A legend
