After visiting Thewy, I was due to go to Luton & meet Compo, &, maybe, his home-from-Uni for Christmas Son, Sam, but I was running too late by hours, so that got scuppered. Sorry, Dave.

I went down & saw Ding, & she cooked a delicious dinner, roast meat, roast tatties, yorkshire pud (made, I gather, by Aunt Bess), but minus the peas, which went wrong somehow, due to a cooking technicality.

Now, I do not give, or receive, Christmas presents - not material things, anyway, & no Crimble Cards, though I might write a note to special friends at Christmas.

So when Ding gave me a beautifully wrapped Christmas Pressie, I was a bit non-plussed. I don't like receiving Xmas Gifts, I certainly don't give them, so it was a bit awkward. What to say?

I decided to be brave, & try to enter the Christmas mood, & receive it in the spirit intended. Apparently Claw had something to do with the gift, too.

And now, I promise, I shall never - NEVER - open another Xmas gift. I'm scarred for life.

I shll listen attentively to all suggestions as to how I might dispose of the Present. Cremation? Drowning? Throw it out of the car window on the M1?

I shall never speak to Ding or Claw again.

OK, I'm off to see Karabiner, for dinner, now, which will be rather nice.

He is giving me some binoculars he no longer uses, I want them for bird-watching.

And I've got some Books for him to borrow, beautiful books on Thoroughbred Breeding & Racing, including some well over 100 year-old first editions, signed by the author.

I want him to select three, to loan, then I'll sort another batch for him when he's read those.

I think he will select the one about Cecil Boyd-Rochford, one by Robert Standish Sievier, who owned Sceptre, &, possibly, "Park Top", a modern book (198?), by Andrew Devonshire, aka The Duke of Devonshire.

The last time The Duke of Devonshire appeared on blonde Forum was in a photograph of the old buffer, sitting in Red's Caravan, flanked by Tom & one of his Brothers, if I'm not mistaken.

Oh dear, it would appear that Tikay has inadvertently left the tucan at my house. It was left stuffed upside down in a box. Hmmm.

I can only imagine in that his haste to get to Raphs in time for lunch he left it behind. Never mind, I'll deliver it to him at Luton tomorrow, I know he wouldn't want it any other way.

It was lovely to see how touched he was by the present, he was constantly in awe, saying under his breath "It's a crow, it's a F$%*ing crow". I think a tear nearly came to his eye. That is what Christmas is all about folks.  Smiley

I hope that power-cut that occurred ten minutes after you departed did not hinder your homeward journey Tony.

Thank the lord for candles, wine, cigars and i-pods to while away two and half hours.

Lol!

Note that Miss Dell stated "tikay cursed under his breath ".

My pocket is, as ever, but most especially at this time of year, packed with olive branches.

Crow is more than welcome to roost upon one.
