I purchased one of those Torches in a Service Station yesterday, it does 101 different things. £5-99, how cheap was that?
It says on the box - no really - "80,000 hour LED bulb life".
Think on that, 80,000 hours bulb life. That's 9 years, just over in fact. A true miracle of engineering.
I can't get the damn thing to work though.

I bought a wind-up torch. 1 minute winding = 20 minutes shining. I'm chuffed to little mint balls with it.

"Electronic devices such as i-pods, MP3 players & the such like are NOT PERMITTED in this Casino, & must be left at Reception."
So reads the sign as you enter Brighton Rendezvous.
Personally, I don't see the problem, I'm ambivelant on the matter really.
But more than 20 players in last night's comp were using i-Pods, maybe partly to alleviate the horrific drunken & loutish shouting & abuse that was going off, more of which later.
Now I don't have a problem with i-Pods one way or the other. But I DO have a problem with prominently displayed Rules which are not implemented.
Anarchy awaits if we can all do whatever we want. If there is a Rule, it should either be implemented, or, if it's daft, removed. Ignoring Rules is not an option. Not in my little world, anyway.
I agree that rules must be implemented, but I am guessing that in the poker room it is ok, but not in the casino itself.
My understanding of the no MP3 player rule, and this has been told to me by players who frequent the Rendezvous regularly, is that you can communicate to people using them. So they were banned to stop cheating, collusion etc.
Well if that is the case - & I don't know one way or the other - why are players still allowed to use them? (Rhetorical!). Which is my whole point, reallly. If you have Rules, use them. Or change them. Allowing them to be simply ignored is a bad road to take. Leads to all sorts. Note my previous rant.....
Totally agree with you

I fixed the torch, well, Maria did.
I'm gonna leave it on for 8 years, then if the bulb fails, invoke the Guarantee.
I wonder if they'd give me my money back? Can't believe they are allowed to get away with spouting such nonsense - 9 years guaranteed. My name's not Thew.

Cant wait for Tikay to meet Lutons 'new Red Shirt', a new player we christened black shirt. Loud when wins a pot, rub downs galore and enjoys the odd beer or ten. Oh how I laughed as he knocked me out with quads last night.
Tikay could start going around like a cumudgonly old man with a walking stick - poking and hitting players with it when they do something the old guy doesn't like - he's just moving on a little as he does it verbally anyway - upholding the voice of reason within the poker community - and it's great!

I'm delighted to hear that "words were had" last night at Brighton Rendezvous, "suggesting" a little more decorum, & a little less alcohol, (for those that can't hold their drink) may be in order.
Top Marks to Brighton Rendezvous.

Tikay,
SORRY, you had a miserable experience at this year's Harbour Lights Festival.
Myself (Campbell Dickson - Club Director) and Gar-young Tang ( Card room Manager) honestly try to give poker players the games they want in the environment they demand.
1. Gar-young did hold her hands up regarding the structure for Thurs £300 Freezeout and O.K. lesson learnt.
2. The card room were not shy in recommended player cancellation this week. Those not cancelled were told they were on a " dog's chance".
3. The guy who is "unwell" is known in the poker community, which I thought was really inclusive and his language is compulsive. He was spoken to and responded in kind.
4. The 'electronic device ' notice is relevant to the casino proper - we do treat the poker room as a separate entity and as the majority of our players request to use electronics etc we allow the use of them if it does not interfere with the game.
5. The Rendezvous card room advertise which tournaments are dealer dealt and for any tournament where the buy-in is £200 or more we will provide dealers.
Any charges made for entry into our competitions are reasonable if not better than the majority of card rooms in the U.K.
6. Other than yourself there were no complaints from any other player in the tournament taken to Gar-young. If we look at this from another perspective, the following days competition contained over 70% of the previous night's field. Also, 90% of our main event field had played over the week. In principle we agree that poker is a 'gentleman's' game and we endevour to achieve and maintain this goal.
Finally, I support Gar-young as a T.D. without comparison and hope that you make this a trial separation and not a divorce.

I stay over in London, & have a meeting with Ladbrokes on Thursday at 1pm, discussing "Cruise" matters & this & that.

Tikay i know you prob have no influence over this but Laddies has recently broken with industry standard on the rake in cash games. If you could get a quick honest answer why they have upped the rake and i would appreciate it.

Werl, I think they've given the answer, but anyway, I've dropped them a note & I will let you know their reply.
I do not, of course, have an iota of influence at Ladbrokes, no more or less than any other Ladbrokes Client one assumes. However, they've been in contact with myself & blonde with a view to working together, perhaps doing some advertising on blonde, or a Media role associated with their upcoming Cruise, so maybe they'll take a look at feedback on blonde & respond accordingly.
I will be Posting some info about this week's LECOOP & their Online High Stakes Cash affair shortly, which I'm hoping some of our Members will find useful. Or spammy.....
