Not a jot of herbs, tablets or liquid meds by you either.  Reckon scientists should give up on all their other 'discoveries' and just bottle you.

We're grand, cheers.  x

Too right, I don't believe in all that medicine stuff, ('cept countless Nurofen & Rennies) though it helps to be blessed with good health for starters. Just as well I have always looked after myself, not abused my body, & got plenty of sleep & rest, eh?

FYP

Sorry, Tom, but I quit both Rennies & Nurafen on January 6th, & have not had the need or desire to resort to a single tablet of either since. Prior to then, I concede, you would be right. Eating better seemed to solve all my problems. Until last Saturday, that was.

So you did believe in all that medicine stuff before Jan 6th?

No, absolutely not. I mean, err, yes.

Anyway, Rennies don't count, they are just chalk.

PS - You are worse than Mrs Red & Kizzy combined when you find a bone to chew on.......

I can never connect to the wifi in the Vic. What problems did you have and how did Jeff fix them for you?

Me too, usually, often because of bandwidth issues caused by Live Streams & suchlike.

Jeff rooted around, with endless patience, & found another Wifi code for me, & it worked perfectly.

Is jeff the man who always looks super happy?

If so, doubt he'd of helped many people in the same way

That'd be Jeff, yes.

He's very much into "dry" humour, which whooshes many, to be fair.

I've had my run-ins with him down the years, but I've warmed to him in many ways. Not exactly a piece of cake, his job.

I was just having an MSN convo with a good mate, & it ended thus....

now get back to your thread - loving the way tom is "owning" you

Marv. It was always so, too. To be fair, the guy that owns Tom has to get up very early in the morning, & I've not met him yet.

Easy mistake to make.......

I know a man who does it regularly, and gently, ever so gently....

I don't usually even realise that I've been owned until several days later.

When Tom heard you were sick he suggested you press the off button wait for 20 seconds then turn back on.

No I didn't, it would be pointless. Tony is incapable of switching off.

I've just read this article about the LHC. Basically scientists reckon they might be able to use it to detect particles that it will make at some point in the future.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/03/16/lhc_singlet_theory/

Pretty mind blowing if it works!

"If", yes.

Do you ever suspect, just a teeny-weeny bit, that this stuff is like the Emporor's suit of clothes, & is all just nonsense? That the whole thing is a hoax? I have read every book I can on these things, & I have to say, a little bit of me says it's all made up, & they are having a laugh at our expense. Either that or they are out-thinking themselves, or, in my case, ignorance is bliss. If I'd seen "triple range merging" in there I may just have flipped. I guess I just can't quite come to terms with how clever these people all are. Probably. Maybe.

Gotta love this stuff though. It makes about as much sense as baseball stats, but it's equally compulsive. I think if I ever understod it, it'd lose it's interest. Some chance of that.

"....This thinking relies on the idea that the 4-D continuum we can perceive exists within a 10- or 11-dimensional universe, rather as a flat two-dimensional membrane could float suspended in normal three-d space. Versions of the so-called "M-theory" in physics hold that this is the case, but that almost all kinds of forces, waves, particles etc are stuck to the four-dimensional membrane, aka the "brane" for short.

Higgs singlets and possibly certain other things might be exceptions to the general rule, not stuck to the brane like almost everything else. Weiler and Ho are already quite well known for suggesting back in 2007 that a type of special neutrino could do this. Thus, if their theories are correct, the LHC might soon detect Higgs singlets popping back onto the brane before the collision which generated them.

Weiler insists that proper speculo-fiction time travel, faster-than-light transport etc still isn't on as only ultra-bizarro sub-subatomic particles can perform these extradimensional feats. However he does raise the possibilities of communication using such particles......."

Exactly that.

Aha, the argument from incredulity.  Roll Eyes

(PS You've still got some of my books.  Have you read them all yet?)

Picking up on topics from a couple of pages back...

I think you'd enjoy this http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00ts5mm#synopsis it's all about Brian Feynman a superstar physicist with a very interesting character...

"When bored of writing equations on chalk boards or lecturing in his lab, he would go off in search of inspiration down at the local strip club, watching the go-go girls and scribbling his calculations on napkins. He played bongos and cracked safes"

Also - on the Cheltenham topic, I'm lucky enough to be involved at the Wchwood Music Festival which is held at Cheltenham Racecourse. We camp in the area inside the fences and waking up to the views of those hills is just unbelievable some days.
