My thoughts exactly Tom, but remember, that era was very much the "golden age" of marijuana, & every pop song had it's lyrics microscopically examined for drug references.
It might be useful to enlist the help of Methuselah in references to that era. He was, I suspect, a flower person.

Are we agreed on Hey Mr Tambourine Man?
I'm unavailable for most of today, so this will have to do for now.
Before I forget, the clip of Frank and Bing. Are you into musicals in any way, Tikay? Not even the classics?
If not, any idea what connects that clip, Tom Hanks and a cheese spread? A nice easy starter for ten.

You're becoming very sage and philosophical in your old age Tony.
It's creeping me out.

Musicals? Me? MUSICALS?
Err....no!
I was forced to see many as a child (my sister, God bless her, made me accompany her) & I endured The King & I, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Sound of Music, Cabaret & all that shite.
I did actually very much enjoy
Jesus Christ, Superstar
& saw it at the Theatre a dozen or more times.
But no, not musicals.
Sinatra & Co left me stone cold I'm afraid, though I enjoyed reading about his gangster connections.
Tambourine Man was Bob Dylan afaik, so I have never examined the lyrics but can reasonably assume it was drug-related or induced. I was not a Dylan fan. His hair was way too long, unruly, & unkempt, a good a reason as any to dislike I always thought at the time.

Journeys end is a mountain top Tom, & everything can be viewed with so much clarity from there. Especially the mistakes & wrong turnings.

Sigh!
Add philistine to philosophical.
When it comes to lyrics, Dylan is right up there.
Also.. Check out Chuck Berry. He's an unsung hero, (pun intended) in the lyrics department.

Dylan is a tosser.
I've SO wanted to say that. It applies to any & all Dylans.

I saw two Welshmen at DTD last week. One was called Ewan and the other was called Dai.
I remember thinking that if they were to form a double act, what a great name they would have.
Ewan Dai.

It might be useful to enlist the help of Methuselah in references to that era. He was, I suspect, a flower person.
We did actually assume at the time that those references that you quoted in an earlier post were correct in a kind of nudge-nudge wink-wink sort of way, although Peter, Paul and Mary were hardly hardcore.

Ooh, Peter Paul & Mary, what a memory. Ugh.
LSD was all the rage then, as I recall, too.

So you don't like long hair, and you don't like no hair, what kind of hair do you like? (And don't say bleached.)

The absolute nuts LSD was made by a guy called Osley and was available on Haight Street when I was there in 1967.
Purple Osley later to become known as "purple haze" was $5 for two tabs.

You forget how things have changed Tom.
When The Beatles first hit the music scene, the media, TV, newspapers, the general public, the lot, were aghast.
Look at those long-haired lads, what a disgrace
And they were right, look at how long their hair was. Disgraceful indeed.

And, you see, that opened the floodgates, & society began it's slide into lax standards, permissiveness, & people who did not even wear a vest under their shirt when they went to Church. Tsk.
And before we knew it, this lot arrived, & civilisation as we knew it ended.
