I had mixed feelings about entering, due to the 50 runner cap, but I was lucky enough (?) to get the very last seat, after a geezer withdrew, as he thought it was PLO8, so I decided to play eventually.
Not played since Friday or Saturday, so was gagging for a game, too.

Managed to do 2,000 chips very first hand, with.....
...on a flop of .....
4-5-K
...which ran out badly.
Back above starting now though.
The plasma suggests there are now 78 runners, so either a lot of bustees have been replaced by Alternates, or they have opened some extra tables.

27th May – Binions $200 PLO
This was the first Tourney on this years stake.
Ran well, got good cards, played OK (I think), & made the Final 3rd in chips.
A year ago, in this spot, I am GUARANTEED to cash, as I just lock up to the money.
But I've changed my game & bit, or tried to, & I really was trying to win it.
10 player final, with 7 paid, & I busted in 8th place. Bugger. (Official).
We played the Final on the same Binions "Feature Table" that Phil Quayle (bobby1) Jen Mason & I payed on about 10 years ago, what a memory.
Two hands of note in the final, both against the same player, Steve Chanthabouasy, who was runner up to Flushy in the WSOP PLH when Flushy won his bracelet in 2010.
http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=307657
I'm not saying Steve is a world beater, but in this class of field ($200 @ Binions) he was clearly the class act, & pick of the field.
He was chippie, I was chip 3rd, & I had no designs on clashing with him, but it just fell that way.
The first hand was, I thought, an interesting spot.
In short, we saw this flop.....
We were 4 way, & I had (in the Blinds)....
I was first to act, & for whatever reason, I did not fancy leading out.
Steve bet 30,000, from 300,000. I was playing about 180,000.
He had two players behind him, still to act.
They both folded, back to me.
I tanked for a goodly while, & eventually, folded.
Kid to my left insta says "don't tell me you folded a queen there?!", followed by much eye-rolling & smirking from the kids.
I never debated it, but admitted I'd folded a queen. Much hilarity ensued, though Steve said nothing.
I'm sure you can all work out WHY I folded, even though you may disagree. I don't think he bluffs in this spot, & I have a dreadful queen, which is very difficult to improve.
I bumped into Steve the next day. He struck me as a decent kid, well-mannered, & still on good terms with Flushy, so Flushy may hear a different version, but he told me he had 4-4 in his hand, & bet to protect it.
I believed him, fwiw, but I think the fold was correct, anyway, albeit a tad nitty.
Bad fold, trivial fold?
Seemed a marginal spot to me, but I did not like it, & decided to let it go.
Views welcome.
The next spot arose an hour later, with 8 of us left, on the bubble.....
It can't be bad unless you called any raise pre. 3 could be no good, 7 might get trumped on the river. Definitely fold pre. Try and do it if they all limp too.

My exit hand......
I have, something like (may not be exact cards, but pretty much this).....
So, Aces, DS. If only it were PLO8......
Not the worst aces ever, but deffo not great, we have 2 suits, & Aces, but really it neeeds to flop 4 to the flush, or to set up.
3 players at this point have less than 10 Bigs.
There was a min-raise, called in two spots, including Steve, & it gets to me.
I bet 75% of the pot. Think (or thought) I had to, though my hand is now face up, & can ONLY be Aces, or a squeeze.
Folded round to Steve, who, for the first time all day, goes into a very long dwell.
I'm really not sure what sort of hand to put him on, but I discounted big pairs, & decided he had some sort of rundown. Maybe.....
9-10-J-Q
9-10-10-J
9-10-J-J.
Those sort of hands. But a pure guess of course. I did not really know what to think, in truth.
Anyway, he eventually calls me.
We see this flop......
...which does nothing for my hand. If my read is right, & as long as he has 9-10-J-Q, & not a spot lower, I can continue. I assume he would not lead with Q-Q-Q. Pretty sure he knows I have Aces.
He bet.
What now?
For better or worse, I don't think he is ahead, though he could have some sort of 8-9-10-J sort of rundown. He still has to hit it, though.
Anyway, we get the lot in, I was thinking he might fold once I came over the top, but his chips were in the middle in a heartbeat.
His hand?
5-7-8-9.
Hard to flop better, short of flopping the nuts, & he got there on the turn.
GG.
I thought long & hard about this hand afterwards.
His play? Love it, tremendously gutsy. No complaints here, & it just reinforced the view I've formed that I need to find a way to motor with a bigger stack, so that I can make these plays.
My play?
Well I honestly don't know what I could do different really. I suppose I could take a flop & then dump it, but once we got Heads Up on a Q-6-7 flop, I thought I had to go for it.
Again, I'm here to learn, so all views welcome.
Anyway, we put ourselves in a position to win it, but we blanked out - Bubbled - & did our dough.
Next case.
How much have we got? Why bet 3/4 pot and then going for it on any flop? Surely pot then go for it must be better, as you get more of your chips in when definitely ahead.

Boom, full 2xUp, after I eventually find some cahooneys.
I had raised it with....
We go to a flop heads up.
Bet- call.
Turn
Bet call.
River.....
I don't much like the river, and like it even less when he sets me in.
Pretty sure he is just pushing me around, as I have been a bit quiet, and he looks fos to me.
Clench butt cheeks, call, and he snap mucks.
32,000 @ 100-200.

Gave 6k back.
Had J-J-10-9
Flop J-6-A
As played pre, villain does not have the Aces, just an Ace probably.
Bet call.
Turn is another A.
Bet call.
River Q.
I give up, using the "I can find a better spot" excuse to myself. Am not beating much.
Welcome back Lord Nit.

Am sandwiched between 2 super aggro players, who are showing up with all sorts, but are pushing me around a treat.
May have to girdle loins soon.
23,000 @ 150-300, 60 of 88 remain.
Think 30 alternates have got in so far.

Assume you are referring to the JJT9 hand in question 1 and want to know the suits?
Allegedly they are throwing out pokernews reporters from the Venetian due to their connections with online gambling. Maybe they discovered Tikay was the king of online promotion?

Think it was a question about why the updates stopped all of a sudden

Yeah it was a question about the lack of updates.
Sat between two aggro players and then no update. Surely he must have been kidnapped.
Or something linked with Area 51.

I knew it was about the updates, but was making it look like I was confused for the bad comic effect. Think the hand is interesting. Folding the house could be bad unless you were sure he wouldn't go bits with trip aces. If the draw is rainbow then it makes a difference. Feels like he has a lot of A23 or A24 hands. Everyone is struggling to fold these until the turn and he could easily turn it into a bluff on the river or even bet it thinking he is best. AJ is tough to give him and A6 raises the turn? If the board has 2 of a suit there are more draws out there too. Would like the suits and sizings, but think I call there anyway.
Hoping Sky pay the ransom too.
Edit. Ignore some of this and the previous posts, I was thinking this was PLO8. Just realised fella withdrew because it was PLO and not because if was PLO8. Explains the rather fruity play in some of these hands!
