First up, big thanks to all those who kept posting stuff here & bumping the Diary. I'm more than embarrassed that I could not reply, but I've just had too much on my plate. Mainly work - not important work, but work - & that has to come first.  So Next Door now has a thriving - if time-consuming for me - Forum, where the Post & View Count have soared, as the 2 or 3 of you who post both sides will know, but there's only so many hours in the day & I could not cope with both.

I also amassed a huge backlog of PM's & e-Mails, which I've now just about caught up with.

I'll try & reply to all the interesting stuff you've posted as I go along, but I'll try & mix it up with new stuff to attempt to keep it at least mildly interesting.

Enough waffle, on we go.

Let's get the annual Diet out of the way first, at least you were spared all that guff every week.

Here's my weigh-in on 5th January this year;

And here it was last week, which was 18 weeks on. Think I might need to change my socks a little more often though.

Eat sensibly from now on, then?

Of course.

This is what we celebrated the weight loss with, on Thursday, at a lovely little eatery called "The Grumpy Mole" right by Epsom Racecourse.

Feast or famine continues, it seems.

Might have a steady month before I go. As long as I keep going to the gym, I'm not too worried about how much I'm weighing.

Could always stand to inhale a sticky bun or to less, though Smiley

Those look incred!

They tasted even better than it looked. Was delish.

I should add it was a sort of triple celebration really.

1) I'd just finished my monsta diet & lost 2st 4lbs in 18 weeks.

2) Gill had been hard-dieting too, & had dropped 1st 4lbs in about 8 or 9 weeks, which was an incred effort, I was so proud of her. Unlike me, she never weighed herself at all until the diet ended, which would be too scary for me. I'm a weekly weigh-in man.

3) It was Gill's Birthday earlier in the week, so it just seemed the right thing to do. Gill LOVES birthdays, Xmas & all that stuff, whereas I'm a bit of a missog.

She looked bloody lovely too.

Punching. Very much punching Wink

That is a lot, considering it will be such a higher % of overall body weight.

I saw this rather lovely photo on Twitter a week or two back - look at those smiles.

Don't know who the Gent with the lapel badge is, but that's Tatty in the middle, & her man, McLean Karr, who seems to have gone a bit pneumatic since I last saw him.

I worked with Tatty aka Tatlana Pasalic when she first came to England, she could barely construct a sentence & had a different body shape, but she worked hard at the language, & eventually ended up getting a bunch of decent TV gigs in the USA.

Through Tatty I got to meet & know McLean very well, he's a really decent sort. Back them he was plundering High Rollers all over the shop, but as far as I can see, he's not on the scene these days.

A pleasure to have known such a grand couple.

I took Gill down to Leigh-on-Sea at the beginning of May. We really enjoy a train ride to the seaside, & the weather was gorgeous. Was a lovely day all round.

I took this sort of still-life photo. Note how good it is, got the whole boat & everything. Might just enter it into a competition.

We had a spot of lunch - just an omelette or whatever - at a place called Sara's Tea Garden, & we sat outside just soaking up life in the sunshine.

Now, you'll need to be on a Tablet or Smartyphone too see this, but if you can enlarge the "Sara's Tea Garden" sign, you'll see a little sparrow sat on top, holding some nesting material in his beak. (or is that his "bill"?).

In the hour we sat there, I bet that little sparrow went back & forth to his nest in the eaves of the house opposite 50 times or more, each time with more nesting material.

And the thing was, he never flew directly to or from his nest - he (she?) ALWAYS stopped at the sign as a sort of intermediary stop. Why they do that? I've noticed blue tits in my garden do exactly the same thing.

Gotta love birds, one of nature's great miracles.

Then we strolled down the front - such as Leigh-on-Sea has - past some pubs & so on that I'm sure heave with TOWIE sorts on a Friday night.

And - please excuse the photo quality - but I spotted this sign on a pub window.....

Amazed those lads still earning a living doing "An Evening With" sorta stuff, but good luck to them.

Anyone care to guess how much per gig they each get? Not a trick question, I don't know the answer.

I did try to look it up, & found his agent, but no prices were quoted as far as I can see;

He looks a bit like Bumble in that photo. Not how I remember him at all.

One more from Twitter than that'll do for now, I've broken the ice, let's see if anyone is interested. It's past 2am too, & I'm due up at 6am.

Spotted this purler on Twitter a few weeks back. For those of my age, surely that was the golden age of music?

And think about the poor typist, & her manual typewriter with a ribbon & a sheet of carbon paper. Every time she got an enquiry, she had to type that lot out longhand. What a job. However did we cope pre-computers?
