What terrible news. I was only playing on a table with him ten days ago

Peter Steppings, in case anyone wants to know Pete's actual name

Tonight I am filled with great sadness. Those people who can be called truly a character are extremely rare. Pete had a rare gift of being able to make a whole table crack up laughing with a good one liner.

When I first took up the game a little over 4 years  ago I did not dare say boo to a goose. Hard to believe I know but true none the less. On this particular evening I was being mercilessly bullied at the table by a so called professional player. Pete was at the table and over a period of a couple of hours made me realise how with a touch of wit and no little skill you could destroy the bully. He was also a great satellite player and we would discuss satellite strategy whenever we hooked up.

The world is a quieter and sadder place this evening

My condolences to his family and friends

As he said to me 10 days ago after I had been knocked out "where do you think your going?"
