My flat mate bought a LOAD of indian home late last night and we couldnt finish it,  so my question is is it safe to re heat, chicken jalfrezzi, mushroom rice and bombay potatoes in the microwave?

Seem such a waste to just bin it (plus means me having to walk to tesco for supplies and can't be arsed)

Thanks
Jim.

I haven't got a micro-wave, but I quite often reheat the previous day's Indian take-away in my oven.

I do keep it in the 'fridge overnight though.

chicken jalfrezzi, mushroom rice and bombay potatoes

Just off to print out these seven words, and enlarge on my pin board collection of take away menus, all framed and dated according to visit, with scores for various categories annotated alongside.

Yum yum.

You have to be carefull with re heating Rice - huge risk of food poisioning.

Heat the rice up seperately - so hot you cannot touch it, then heat up the curry

as long as you reheat it hot enough you will kill any bacteria that may have formed.

if truth known it was cooked 3 weeks ago anyway.... enjoy your food Wink

You have to be carefull with re heating Rice - huge risk of food poisioning.

Heat the rice up seperately - so hot you cannot touch it, then heat up the curry

the trouble with rice is the potential for botulism, which isn't killed by high heats, so heating to a high temperature won't make any difference.

Rice is safe to reheat as long as it hasn't been kept 'warm' (i.e. room temperature) for too long before being refrigerated, as it is during that time the bacteria grow.

I tend to err on the side of caution and chuck out any unused rice - you can always cook some fresh.  Anything with chicken/meat, make sure you reheat til it's very hot.

Totally agree. Seems to work best with home made spag bol or chili con carne aswell.

En route now due to this thread is chicken tikka bhuna, pilau rice, papadoms, 2 pots of mango chutney, and naan bread with chicken pakora and onion bhajis!

Dont think I am moving much after this tonight!
