On a few occaisions over the last couple of weeks i have witnessed players who have been the victims of a outdraw or bad beat lose their temper and really give their opponent a hard time, in one instance the offer of continuing the hand outside being made.

I think that these people really do need to have a close look at themselves and decide wether they should continue in the game.......

The loss of temper at the conclusion of a hand, in my opinion displays a lack of understanding of the game.  Outdraws have occured for ever and will continue to do so.  Bad calls will continue to be made and they will continue to get lucky, even the worst call, once he has put his chips in, is entitled to his cards and if his 7 2 off cracks Aces, that is what he has paid for.

Without wishing to bore you with examples, my thoughts are that these people who cannot control their tempers need to be given a degree of counselling by card room managers, this type of behaviour should be eradicated from our game as invaribly the targets of the abuse are either  total novices, or in one or two cases females making their initial foray into the live game, both of whom I have a greater pleasure in seeing comiing into the game than the thuggish so called expert.

As poker continues to grow we will see more and more people having a go live, and this needs to be encouraged, the actions of the thuggish loser will do nothing but discourage thes enew entrants to the live game, and I for one would like to see this type of behavour removed from the game completely.

Any Thoughts?

Like you say, if someone is playing within the rules, they have every right to stick their money in with whatever two cards they like.

To be honest, the only time I get really angry is when I make a bad play that I know I shouldn't have made.  Then I'm angry with myself, rather than anyone else.  The only thing you can control at the poker table is how you play.  You can't control the cards, and you can't make someone call or fold a hand (although you can try to influence them to do what you'd prefer them to do), but your decisions are up to you.  Of course, there are times when an opponent gets ridiculously lucky, and you get annoyed that hours of good play have been 'wasted' by some ridiculous fluke.  But, there's not a lot you can do about it and ranting at the player involved isn't going to help.

I tend to find that bad sportsman at the poker table are like that generally outside the game as well.  If you're going to win or lose at whatever game or sport you play - do it with dignity.

Peeps appear to believe that they can abuse people at the poker table as if they were sitting in their car on the motorway , it can only lead to tears.

I'd never really witnessed it before until the game in Glasgow that Laz posted about.  Wasn't pretty and made me feel very uncomfortable.  I've been disappointed in poker many times and occasionally pissed off with myself for making a stupid play, or with my computer for booting me off at a key point in an online game, but that's about it.

PS

i have a huge problem with getting angry after bad beats, im really trying to overcome this as it does nothing but harm my game.  Anybody threatening another player should be barred, there is a line!

I'm up for a bit of chess - in fact, we could set up a chess challenge on http://www.redhotpawn.com - a blonde chess league.  Might be interesting.
