you slow played the hand from start to finsih

1 limper you mini raise
flop he bets out you mini raise

you could of shut him out preflop and be greatfulll for the chips
you could of shut him out on the flop but you wanted the action
you got the chips in with him neading runner runner and got unlucky

a proper bet preflop would of solved this and moving in on the flop instead of the mini raise would of
gotten you the small pot but at that stage you want him to get all his chips in

m,y standard rule in this situation...you min raised preflop and therefore deserve everything you get. Min raising is evil and stars quite rightly punished you for it Wink

Seriously though..yeah the guy is nuts for playing like this when he only really has three outs (he can't know you don't have the FD and therefore he's only drawing to a non diamond here) but you have to stop min raising with aces..it's a give away to most decent players.

You know what, I am not sure the guy was only drawing to 3 outs, I think it was a bluff and he was trying to push you of your hand.

Your min raises can be read as weakness, so he is trying to re-raise you and make you fold.

unlucky 50 p please.

Hi,

thanks for the comments and all valid points.

I should have explained the guy was ultra aggressive (and lucky lol) so I min re-raised on pre and post-flop expecting him to re-raise and had the intention all along of then going over the top - especially having hit top trips.

I'd actually have preferred to be beat if he had at least been on a 4 flusher after flop rather than a middle pin straight draw (at least on flush he'd have had more outs and could explain the raise and then call for what was between a quarter and a third of his stack).

I suspect the only way I could have won this would have been an all-in pre-flop but then I wouldn't have won any of his chips and so he'd still have had a huge chip lead and could carry on dominating - is there any way to play these sort of ultra-aggressive players when they have a very big chip lead??

Suspect he won tournament as he was getting cards and even when he was behind he was out-drawing people (out-rageously at times). Took out 4 players over 3 successive hands when he was behind when chips went in and then two hands later was this one above!!

if he was really agressive you shouldn't have raised at all pre-flop limp preflop and he would almost definetly get his chips in immediatly (although end result of course would remain the same here)

why min raise ( hate that play... )

why min raise AGAIN ( hate it more )

why complain when suckout when u given him odds to call and he had enough outs (in his mind) to gamble vs a min reraiser...... who will almost certainly pay him off!!!

as boldie says the Poker Gods were angered by your minimum raises and decided you must be taught a lesson.

QFT.

Anything to stop people arsing about with these min raises, gets my vote. In general its poor play for a couple of reasons, if the guy is an idiot as in OP's hand he will call more than a min raise and therefore you gain more value from your hand. Or secondly if the player has a brain this stupid min raise is going to look exactly like it did a monster, oh the joy i get from stacking aa and kk because of the odds im given by calling min raises is one of the most beautiful things in poker.
