PC world / currys are doing some offers at the mo in the region of £350 - £400. I just bought a new one today for £599 and i love it.

I was looking at getting a new lappy myself and spoke to the company who do our it this week, and he said the best deals out at the moment are with tesco...

Not sure about buying a lappy from there, but he was using a £399 one that he had bought himself 2 weeks earlier and he said it was the dogs...

They look okish, I think Dell and PCWorld have higher specced (better processor) laptops.

Ebay has some bargains, but with the obvious pitfalls and risks........

My suggestion would be to buy from Dell, but via their Ebay auction arm. eg

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DELL-PC-Laptop-LCD-Inspiron-6400-Scratched-95HZX2J_W0QQitemZ270155892189QQihZ017QQcategoryZ177QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Be very careful buying a second hand laptop on ebay. Don't bother unless the battery is new and guaranteed.

Insist on a Warranty of min. 1 year.

Unbelievable. What won't they sell? Hooker sir? Certainly. Aisle 6, beside the tinned carrots.
Tesco will eat the world.

For every £8 spent in britain, £1 goes to Tesco (or companies own etc) apparently...

 thumbs up

That IS actually a 500 quid machine selling for 400. It's Advent......but I hear they're not bad now.
I can't see the warranty info?

I'd be very tempted by this machine. 17".....yummy. Nice for films, maybe not so nice for battery life.

I'm not overly bothered about battery life, It will be near a mains socket all the time as i have no need to take it on the move.

Never used an Advent before

This looks ok  ( I think )

Is it wise to get a laptop that has been returned by a customer?   I know they have been checked by Currys engineers, however when I asked to speak to one of their engineers about my ipod once, I was greeted by a 16 year old ned that knew less about the ipod than I did  Cheesy
