Not for long, Rangers good as out with that group, Celtic will also struggle, need to win minimum 2 from 3 at home...

There's no extra-time and penalties in the CL group stage though.

I dont doubt Parkhead is a tough place to go, but IMO you will need at least 3/4 away points to qualify...

unless they've changed the rules since we won our home games last year against Man Utd , Benfica and Copenhagen.

absolutely , our away form in the Champions League is infamous , it is diabolical.

we need to take points away to Benfica and Shaktar to have a chance of qualifying imo.

The point was there was a boast that Celtic could beat any team in the world at home, and yet this very week they had failed to beat Spartak in 90 mins, who aren't even the best team in Moscow.

People are getting defensive very quickly in this thread.

Which is something Celtic will have to do in their away matches.

All you have to do is look at our past result in europe, i wouldn't class it as a boast but a fact

Celtic have played 12 home ties in the Champions League & lost once to Barca. Its not unrealistic to say we could beat any team in the world at home.

The away record is no secret either, we could lose to any team in the world away as well!

yes the word used was "COULD"

It's not a 100% guarentee

our home record in the group stages is

Pld 12 W 9 D 2 L 1

the victories came against Rosenborg, Porto, Juventus, Lyon, Anderlecht, Shaktar Donetsk, Copenhagen, Benfica & Man Utd

Draws were against Milan & Bayern Munich

the Defeat was Barcelona (who cheated by bringing on Henrik Larsson)

So yes we need to do well in our home games but it is by no means beyond us which is what the "extra time" comment seemed to be suggesting

dont forget giants like Ajax , MTK , Kaunas , Artmedia and Basel lol

seriously i was looking through our history in the champions league which is very short lived tbh ( only since 2001/2002 )

and we have progressed immensely , 10 years ago we couldn't get in , 5 years ago we were in , and since we got in.

admittedly we have been pumped a few times and our away form is atrocius , but , we have proved we can beat the European giants in this competition.

last year we made the last 16 for the first time , im just excited to see how far we can go in another 5/10 years from now.

the only thing holding us back is the SPL , it is a sad fact that the league we play in is too small for a club our size

both footballwise and financially , however the club seems to be secure financially and very shrewd in that area.

i see no reason why Celtic cant be reaching 1/4 finals , semi finals and finals of European competitions in 5 to 10 years.

no reason why we shouldn't be on the same level as Liverpool , Man Utd , Arsenal etc.

exciting times ahead i think. plus we've made a great start to the season and were gaining momentum going into Europe.

 mon the hoops.
