Sleepwalking.........

The base player from Supergrass has broken his back after falling out of a first floor hotel window whilst sleep walking
I once shared University digs and my roomie several times a week woke up the next morning, opened his sock draw and discovered it was sopping wet after he had
deleted on the grounds of good taste
in the drawer
My ten year old soon sleepwalks often, I wake up when he pads about in the early hours and I watch him talking to himself. I don't disturb him, five minutes later he finishes playing, talking and jumping on the bed and is fast asleep again. No recollection of it at all in the morning

I wish the Supergrass bass player a good recovery - not a nice experience.
I used to sleepwalk a great deal in my childhood/youth to the point where the family were concerned, when we went on holiday, that our room was "safe" in this respect and I did have to turn down renting a particular first floor flat, in between house purchases, because the only bedroom was very small and the bed had to be close up to a full-length window... not a good idea!
I also occassionally threw myself out of bed during horrific nightmares....weird! One time it was most embarassing as I gave myself a shiner of a black eye which was not a good idea when we were going to interview some big cheese at Anglo American Headquarters...oh well! On another occassion I just missed landing on a glass on the floor... the thought still brings tears to my eyes!
My son also experienced sleepwalking and, like you, Tighty, the best advice was just to keep an eye that all was well and safe for him and only wake him if there could be a potential problem. Most times he was totally unaware!

I don't sleepwalk. Although one time (not at band camp, but at Uni), I went out with Michelle and another couple for some quiet drinks in an Irish bar.
4 hours later, quietly hammered.
Got home, and crashed. Thought nothing of it, until I got back from lectures the following day and Michelle was crying with laughter. I asked what was wrong, and she told me to go over to her wardrobe to find out. It was soaking wet all on the floor and so were some of her clothes hanging up... I think we all know what happened there.
Apparently, Michelle had awoken during the night, and saw me standing there in the corner of the room, butt-naked and she could hear some "water running". She'd asked me what I was doing, and apparently I said nothing, but the water stopped running and then I walked out the room went to the bathroom and flushed the toilet. I vaguely remember dreaming about emptying some beer out of pint glass - but that's obviously not what was happening. I must have been marking my territory or something...
I have a friend who sleepwalks. His wife has had to go out the house on a number of occasions to find him wandering up the road in his boxer shorts. Another friend sleepwalks a lot when he's drunk, so when he's away in a hotel he often chains himself to a radiator to stop himself wandering off!

Are you sure it was him that had deleted all over his socks?

Sheriff Fatman is reading the thread. Now there's a snorer, but not as far as I know a sleepwalker!

Only once, as a young lad. Apparently I was looking in my Mum's sewing cupboard for Glenn Hoddle!

I used to sleepwalk when I was around 10. My mum said that once I went downstairs and she found me flicking the light switch on and off then just crashed on the sofa.
My kids haven't shown signs of sleepwalking yet but they are big sleeptalkers. I hope my eldest doesnt decide to start sleepwalking soon- he's on the top bunk!!!

That's just silly. He was in the shed.

When I was 19/20 I shared a house with my best friend and a girl who was about 21/22.
We used to go out every weekend Thursday,Friday,Saturday.
I was out with my friend one saturday night and the girl was out with her friends. I got very very drunk and went to bed about 3am. The girl had a Sunday job working in a care home or something and had to be up at around 7am. She had a bit of a fright when she went to have a bath and I was lay naked asleep in a bath full of water.

I used to sleepwalk a lot as a kid, and would apparently hold fairly lucid, if surreal, conversations with anyone I encountered. The story about the sock drawer reminded me of a time when my brother was about 11. He got out of bed and must have been convinced in his sleepy state that his record player (got showing my age now!) was the toilet - lifted the lid, did the job, then even put the lid down again afterwards.
