Why Are There So Few Online Satellites To Live UK Festivals ?

Other than BlueSquare for the Grosvenor festivals, why do so few Casinos (if any) run Online satellites for their live festivals ? I know most will host some live satellites for the events but these are usually midweek which is inconvenient for most weekend players like myself.
As a case in point my local, the Broadway, is running £25 RB Satellites for the £500 festival event on Saturdays which is normally the quietest night of the week (usually less than 30 runners). Satellites for the main event are £50 RB's which is too expensive for me. Both of these are likely to produce 1 seat for every 6 runners (assuming an average of 2 RB's/AO) but at a higher cost than the cheaper large field satellites which offer fewer seats relative to buyin.
If they hosted online satellites at a lower buyin I am sure they would attract a much larger field and probably attract people from further afield as well as raising the profile of the event. I will ask the question when I go tonight but I don't expect they will be very interested.

I'm with you Rain.
As I've moaned before even Blue Sq. have stopped online sats to non GUKPT live events......and then they cry that 10 players turned up to Brighton last week.
The "qualify online only". Virgin festive at broadway in Nov. will easily sell out.
Weekend festivals suit at lot of players, and I , like you, would like to qualify online.

Mentioned it tonight and got a disinterested response. I spoke to one person who had played one of the satellites which they had to change to a SNG due to a lack of runners. It also pisses me off that the only Friday satellite they have scheduled is a £50 rebuy for the main event which will exclude a lot of the regulars because of the cost. Funny thing is they are guaranteeing 10 seats for the £50 RB but if they held the normal £20 rebuy they would get 8 - 9 seats anyway but it would at least allow the regulars a shot at competing in the main event. The Friday satellite will be for Pro's and circuit regulars instead.
You would have thought that given the amount of competition between venues, now that there are festivals every other week, they would consider trying to widen access to the event.

It sure will, but to be fair, that is as stupendously good value Tourney, with £5k of genuine added money, a low entry fee & a decent structure, very much along the lines of an APAT Event.
At which juncture, I really should mention that I have a vested interest in saying as much, as I'm very much involved in the prerparation & running of the Event. So I would say it's good value! (It's always best to declare self-interest in such matters).

the resent nottingham £1000 bank holiday tournie ran 2 sats online the 1st only 5 people played it the 2nd only 7 played.it was $150 but they ran feeders to the main qualifier.this was for 2 seats worth $2.5k each.so for 4 $2.5k seats gala generated $1800 a loss of $8200 how do explain that?

Excellent M3 Boy thanks!.
Yes Gaz, unless there is good advertising/marketing ...very few will know about any online qualifers. Were those qualifers mentioned on Blonde?....and you say they guaranteed the seats?....if so wow!, excellent for the player....but to cover themselves, they could stipulated a min no. of players....and added some "package value" as an incentive.

blonde are curently discussing offerring Online Satellites to a number of Live Fessie Events, watch this space. We are just finalising details with the Venues - it'd be wholly wrong to do so without their prior agreement & support, but it's going fine so far.
The Sats will be on the blondepoker Cardroom.

Hurry up please !!!
The Broadway festival is on in 2 weeks and they have been getting very few in for the satellites. I spoke to a few people at the Casino on Friday night and they were all enthusiastic about playing online for seats. If it could be organised fairly quickly it would enable the online satellites to be promoted in the casino to increase numbers. Is the Broadway one of the venues you are talking to ?
