...with my newly acquired $215 tournament dollars on Stars. It was originally to be used for the Sunday Warm Up ($200+15, 2000+ runners, $400k guaranteed), but I might be changing my mind.

1. It's not a lot of money to me but I'm trying to slowly build up a decent bankroll. If it were $200 in real dollars, rather than TDs, that I'd won through cashing in a small tournament, I wouldn't dream of using it all on one event - I'd probably use it for $30+3 entries to the $10k guaranteed or something like that. It is tempting to smash it all in trying to win a biggie though Smiley

2. I have a (what I think is) decent ROI in tournaments with buy ins of between $10-$50, though have only played a couple at the bigger end and it's a small dataset. Haven't played many on Stars, only started using the site recently. I am not used to large fields though. I've made a couple of final tables in 400+ runner tournaments, but most of my cashes have been in fields of 50-150.

3. The deeper the stacks, the better I do. Show me a turbo structure and I'll show you a deeply distressed man.

I think it would probably be +EV to use the $215 for entry into multiple smaller tournaments. Are there any particularly juicy one on Stars that anyone could point me towards? On the other hand, I've always fancied a shot at a $200+ tournament but have never allowed myself because my bankroll won't allow it (though my bank account probably would Smiley)

What would you do?

Looks like you've answered the question. Shouldn't really treat it any different from normal dollars.

Although, there is something to be said for taking a punt at higher levels now and then, a cash could be the bankroll break through you (and I) need.

I've just been knocked out of the $10 5pm deep stack Stars tournament.

Nearly a 1000 runners and plenty of goes at it with your t%, and a couple of thousand dollars if you get to win it.

5k starting chips and half hour levels, if deep stacks really help you then this could be profitable - they also have a $20 one sometime if you prefer a bit more of a risk.

the deep stack comps on stars can last over half a day so if you have time to spare and the fortitude to sitt through it all they would be best for someone who doesnt like a turbo

When you played the sat. were you trying to qualify for this tournament. If the answer was yes then you should play the tournament.

If you're going to play scared in the warm-up, use it for smaller buy-in tournaments.

indeed. If you can play the warm up as normal there's nothing wrong with having a pop at it..but treat it as a normal tourney and don't think "Oh my God, there's 215$ on the line here"

I decided to split it for smaller tourneys and, if I can double it, I'll use that profit for the Warm Up. I wouldn't play scared in the Warm Up; I'd over-correct and become far too aggressive.

I might have a crack at one of the deep stack games when the missus is away. And when I win it, spend the proceeds on hookers and coke. Ahem.

When I say scared, I don't necessarily mean that you'll play cautiously or passively - just that the amount of money is outside your normal bankroll so you play differently to your normal game.  Maybe scared is the wrong term.  But if the buy-in does affect your play, then I think you've made the right decision.  I've played the warm-up a handful of times - never done brilliantly in it.  But I do play the sats for it fairly regularly, and then use the tournament dollars to buy in to the tournaments that are more within my level.

Although playing a little outside your usual level (only a little mind) can be fun every now and then.
