ive got a nikon coolpix with 6 mega pixels. its got a movie record feature too. the camera takes great pictures. it cost about £240 with a good sized memory card
thjis is a pic of a tiny mushroom growing on a tree. i took it with the close up feature by hand, not tripod. i took a movie of a bee i could upload to youtube if you are interested in this camera. the quality was superb:)
Thing is, when you take a photo like that the memory card is probably almost full up, as there won't be much-room for anything else on there...

Important thing to remember with a camera is the number of pixels (you don't want anything less than 6M - my new phone has a 5M camera!), and the lens zoom (ignore the digital zoom).
Other things such as battery life, size, storage capacity are important (but secondary in my book usually).
I've got a Fuji F610, which is now about 3 years old. 6M, and one of the best you could get for the price when it was new (I bought it of a photographer friend about 2 years ago). Still a cracking camera, the battery doesn't last that long however - but I usually have the charger with me if I need it.
