I've been really overwhelmed with the number of messages of support I've had on here in response to my 'changing times' thread, and also the support I've had from my 'real life' friends and family.  I never realised how truly blessed I was to have so many people around who care, and it's only strengthened my conviction and courage to get through this.   I'd just like to give a special mention of thanks to probably my best friend that I've never met - bolt pp.  He gave me a call last night to see how I was and we had a good chat - he really is a great guy, and hopefully I'll meet him one day!!  Also to Kingpoker who has kept me amused on msn and made me smile a lot (and I know he'll sulk if I mention bolt and not him!!).  Thanks guys.

Anyway, I thought I'd post an update.  I've been staying down at my mum's in West Sussex for a few days.  It's great here - I have a large extended family and my mum lives with her sister and her husband, and it's one of those houses where the door is always open and family and friends are always in and out.  There's always a pot of tea on the go, and there's always about 10 people sat round the kitchen table.  I'm being force fed delicious home made food (I had rhubarb crumble and rice pudding in the same bowl for my pudding last night - what decadance|).  Just what I need at the moment.  I'm missing my little girl something rotten, but will be heading back home tomorrow ready for her first day of school on Wednesday.  Gary and I have decided to try to make a go of living under the same roof for a few weeks (but giving each other lots of space), as we do not want Hannah to associate her starting school with the break up.  One thing we are both agreed on is that she is the most important thing in our lives and we will do what we can to ensure that she suffers as little as possible as a result of the split.

As for me, I actually feel really positive going forward.  I'm free to be myself now, and that's the greatest freedom one can have.  I might struggle financially, I might not get to go out as much as I would like, or play as much poker as I would like, but true happiness comes from within, and I think I'm well on my way there.

thanks again xx

That's nice to hear, Claire.

There's an old truism I always use at times like this.

Everything happens for the best.

And it does, life is like that, we laugh & we love & we live, & we move on. It's OK, you'll be fine. One chapter has ended, another begins - who knows how exciting that will be?

About 3 years ago, my Partner of 10 years turned up at my House - we were the happiest couple on earth, or so I thought - & said "it's over, tata". Just like that. I wanted to die. Total devestation.

The very same day, I was asked to do some writing for a Poker Magazine. And thus started a whole new adventure for me. I worked my socks off, it's the world's greatest painkiller, work.

Dave Colclough saw my stuff & said "come join me & get blonde started". Then I was gifted a TV Role on Poker 425, folowed by another on Poker Night Live. The very week they announced Poker 425 was to end, Sky approached me, "will you come work with us on Sky Poker". Then I got the Poker Week thing. Like 425, they sent me all over Europe, & to Vegas - & paid me! APAT too is stunningly satisfying, & now I have work all over the place, for lots of people, & life is grand.

Do I still miss Wendy? Of course I do, the ache never goes away. But doors close, & doors open. Almost always for the better. Life is clever like that.

You'll be just fine, & life will be hunky-dory, whatever happens, because you have backbone.

xx
