A mate of mine phoned me about this tonight, I am half tempted to become a member because I think it will be a good laugh as well as something of interest and potentiallly save a club from going belly up.

I must admit the logistics of it all, sound a bit of a nightmare and whether it will get off the ground is probably doubtful. They already have 50000 members and over a million quid to invest. What do you think?

I cant wait for this to start, I have a feeling it will go belly up, read a bit on the forum and so many people have different ideas, but it will be fun..

I just hope it does not ruin a football club

Interested to see how this works, particularly fans having a say in team selection

On most football fora I see, a lot of fans don't have a clue and get ludicrously biased one way or the other

Good fans though there, had them at our place when they were Gravesend and Northfleet the day they won promotion ot Conf South!

Does anyone think this can work?  It's bad enough when the board with a few members interferes with the running of a club, but when there's thousands of members that are supposed to have a say in team selection it can only be a disaster.   I can't understand why the manager has said he's looking forward to working with so many people.

It would be good fun perhaps to be a part of it, but as for the good of the team that they are buying, I have my doubts.

I'm hopeful it can work.
Boards with a few members or sole owners of football clubs can often be the reason for the clubs problems.
I think there will be videos and Pro-Zone style statistics along with weekly briefings and fitness updates from the coach.
When the coach puts forward his recommended team and formation, if the members vote for changes to his line up he can hardly be blamed if things don't work out.
It's not just team selection but the whole structure and running of the club that gets voted on, from which clubs to send scouts to, to resurfacing the car park.
It's such a radical idea and there will be problems along the way and wrong decisions will be made but I'm looking forward to being part of it.

So the coach has to submit the team he wants to play each week and needs the members approval?  How long do you give it before the coach gets fed up and quits?  Sounds like he'll spend most of the week getting reports and stats done for the members rather than concentrating on the club.  As for the day to day decisions needing approval from all the members, that's just crazy.  People need to be left to do the job they are paid to do, especially as 99.99% of the people involved in the decision making will have no knowledge on the workings of any club, yet alone the club they are buying.

Like I said, I think it's a great idea from a fans point of view, but from the clubs, I think it's bad news.   I am tempted to get a stake myself though, just out of curiosity Smiley

I would love this to succeed, but its gonna go t*ts up in my opinion... Fans picking the team? Leave it out... Do fans realise how time managers/coaches spend with the team and players on the training field, how much they know about them as a person etc, what will the 'members' judge the team selection on, what rating the News of the World gives them in the sunday paper?

In theory its a good idea but in reality it will not work.  I feel sorry for the Ebbsfleet Utd die-hards (I'm guessing there will be a few) whose club is being used as a guinea pig.
