I'm watching this at the moment and i have to say it seems to follow the same plote line as every other poker movie ever made.

Still got the final part to watch, but not convinced its a blockbuster tbh.

Lots of poker cameos from poker players, but its a movie for poker players and i doubt if it will appeal to anyone else.

I am a bit sorry this movie is so bad tbh.

It went through a lot of reshoots after being shown to test audiences.

My hunch would be that it started off as a proper poker film that would appeal to poker players, but the test audiences showed that it wouldn't appeal to a mass market, so they tinkered with it until it was mediocre for both targets.

I don't know for sure if that's right, it might have been absolutely awful to start with and the tinkering pushed it up to being mediocre, but that is the impression I have from what was being written about it whilst it was being filmed and reshot.

I thought it was ok... quite like drew barrymore though.. I also had an argument with the wife that the Dad in the film is James Caan.. it isn't but I won't admit im not right..

Average movie with a bit obvious storyline...thought the poker player cameos were a bit wooden though.

Did you think the card room sessions were odd? Guy bets on river in 8/16 limit and hero raises with 5 high gets him to fold. In limit this would never happen for such a big pot. I thought the reading player examples were a bit laboured too.

Good to see you can walk into the Bellagio and just sit down in a game (artistic licence I know)... Smiley
