Just been confirmed that the helicopter which crashed a couple of miles away was being piloted by ex world rally champ Colin McRae, and also carrying his 5 year old son.
Both are confirmed dead at the scene.....

Sometimes you have to suffer a little bit in your youth to motivate yourself to succeed in later life. Do you think if Bill Gates got laid in high school, do you think there'd be a Microsoft? Of course not.

Yep , it is very sad. I saw him at the 1995 RAC Rally. In the last few years we have lost two great drivers, Richard Burns was great as well

I think this is a scary David Richards owns Prodrive the team which McRae drove for to win the World title.
I've just seen this on the BBC.
Rally boss in helicopter escape The Subaru rally team chief and his wife survived unhurt when their helicopter crash-landed in Essex. Police said Dave Richards and his wife "walked out of the wreckage" near North Weald Airfield and were treated for shock by paramedics.
Mr Richards, is chief executive of Prodrive, which runs the Subaru World Rally Team.
He was in charge when Colin McRae, who has died in a helicopter crash in Lanarkshire, won his world rally title.
Mr Richards and his wife were returning to their home at Banbury, Oxfordshire, after attending the Belgian Grand Prix.
Mill Lane alongside the field where the wreckage lies has been sealed off awaiting the arrival of Air Accident Investigation Branch staff.
Such a shame for Motorsport not to mention the family's grief.
Regards
M
