Considering playing one of the Vic's upcoming afternoon satellites. I remember that they used to be fussy about what you wore to get into the place, is it still the same? Do jeans and trainers go?

Jeans and trainers do go, but it does depend on the colour of the jeans and the trainers in question.  Snoops thinks that pink (sorry fuschia) trainers go with jeans - but the jury's still out on that one.

Worse than effing Luton............
Arrive at the Vic for a comp a couple of years agoduring the summer. Have a smart T shirt that says Vegas on it, bought in Leicester I might add. After all anybody can buy a Vegas T shirt in Vegas can't they.
Desk to me "I'm sorry sir but you are not allowed to wear that in here" in a voice just patronising enough to make me feel that she had stepped in something whilst speaking to me. "But I wore it last week and you let me in" says I. "But it does not have a collar Sir" Sir now being said in a voice that meant lowlife.
Fine says I and leave the building......7.30pm.....nowhere open and an oversize poker player looking for a shirt.
Stride purposefully down the Edgeware Road get to the bottom and find the surf shack is still open.
In we go
" What is the largest size shirt you sell" says I
"We go all the way to XL" says the impossibly thin young man behind the counter.
I buy the loudest shirt I can find in an XL which has a skull and crossbones it. I put it over my t-shirt thus looking like a supremely fat incredible hulk with super tight shirt on.
"That's fine Mr. Cooklin"....up yours think I as I take the shirt off the second I reach the cardroom

You have been warned

No I thought I had better make an effort and I would remind everybody that they were most definitely a fashion shoe. Actually the funny thing is I never had a problem with the shoes at The Vic or the  T shirt in Luton

When The Vic starts to show some pride in Customer-Care, maybe. I went there last week for a comp, & I must say, it was a farce. But that's another story, for another day. We'd be in deep poo without Grosvenor, God bless them, & I large them up 24/7, but last Monday at The Vic, well, you could not make it up.

I dress "acceptably", but I don't much care for going all the way to The Vic for an 80 runner Tourney (that's what the Flyers stated) only to be told on arrival it is full & closed when there are only 40 runners. Jeff & Joe, after enormous hard work, eventually sorted it, credit to them, & the comp stated an hour & 10 minutes late. And I paid £50 + £10 Session Fee/Reg Fee to be plonked on a round self-deal table, & have to self-deal. I'm fine with Reg Fees, & Session Fees, too, but not for self-deal, tyvm. Self-Deal, at The Vic, in this day & age?

If the players are asked to smarten up their act - fine by me - so should the Venue.

Hi
Trainers are okay,as are jeans. The only no is sports wear.
Tikay you are 100% correct, it was a complete farce. However, lessons have been learned and hopefully, all sat's will run smoothly from now on.

 good luck all

Yep, the "UK flagship poker room" spends a small fortune on a reburbishment, charges the "full" reg fee on tourneys, but still maintains a policy of dealers for over £100 buy in only.

The ever growing EPT rolls into town next week......and one thinks the Vic's Sheriff will need to have his army fighting fit, otherwise the tour will be heading to see Robin Hood next year!

This is a new policy, then, as I was in the same position (half hour before comp start, trainers on, no admittance) last year.  I went to Woolworth's I think, round the corner, and bought some Children's plimsolls three sizes too small for £4 and returned looking like an ugly stepsister or an extra in Roald Dahl's The Witches.  I blame my incredibly poor tournament performance on the day on the blood flow to my feet being restricted.

Yep, the dresscode has changed recently - anything goes but ripped jeans and football shirts etc

Hoodies aren't usually allowed but I hear for the EPT you can wear ones with a company logo
