New Card-Room Rules.

Trying to get a view on the new card-room rules that are in place.

1. Late Entries.   Any player can arrive during the whole period of re-buys or first 2 levels of a freeze-out.
Is this an advantage to a player? or disadvantage to the other players?

2. On being entered the player forfeits a small and big blind immediately.
Is this sufficient? Should there be a bigger forfeit?

3. Players can leave the table for as long as they wish, only paying small and big blind on their turn.
Is this fair on the other players? Should there be a bigger forfeit?

If a player sat there and folded every hand, they would only be forced to pay the blinds once per orbit.  Why should they pay more than that if they have to leave the table?  They've paid their entry fee.

I would say it's a disadvantage as they have not seen any play up to that point and therefore have missed out on previous information. I did not know they could arrive late for a freezout, not sure that is fair at all.

No this is sufficient IMO

Its annoying, but fair, they have paid their entry fee

Yes its more annoying IMO online than live, especially if there are 2 or 3 on a table. It might just be me, but they sort of ruin a flow of a table.

2) late entries should forfeit a sb and bb for every circuit they've missed, approx every 25 mins or so. Better still leave a few stacks on the tables which will be blinded correctly and remove those not needed.

3) Blinding absent players every hand has always been a bizarre uk only rule, has no foundation in logic or fairness and should be stopped everywhere.

3 the new rule is fair

if i want to take a bathroom break and on the way back get myself a drink and offer my condolenses to tikay who has just bubbled then its my right to do so aslong as i pay my ante and blinds when its my turn

self deal games i can see a reason for doing it but not dealer dealt games

I have to say that I preferred the old rules. If you wanted to play you had to turn up. If you missed three rounds you were big blinded away.

Late entries/alternates I have no problem with a SB and BB penalty.

Three rounds gives you enough time to chat with who you like, have a smoke, go to the toilet or whatever..........

Personally I go to play poker to play poker. There are enough breaks for me to socialise and go to the toilet.In fact I often hear people complaining that the breaks are too long. I have never had a problem wandering around after folding a hand.

I say give anti social and disrespectful behaviour, that non turning up or disappearing for long periods of time is, the boot and maybe live poker can teach something to internet poker. The internet does not do everything right.

I have already apologised on this site previously for not turning up to tournies during the qualifying for the 30G at Luton...........It is disrespectful to those who go to play and no amount of disagreement will make me change my mind. Therefore I apologise again to those who may have had a negative experience because of it.

One last thought is that no matter what the rules are going to be you must make sure that they are communicated clearly on all correspondence

and if you every tried to get back within 3 hands when your on the wrong floor in the vic and in a wheelchair you will know its impossible

but i think taking a 10 minute time out when you have just ha a bad beat or just got lucky is good practise and shouldnt be punished

There are many new rules in lots of different places. A more specific set of rules should be in place for the majority of card rooms from what I've seen so far. Penalty blinds for late entries should be relative to an expected 35-40 hands per hour. That means late entries should receive an immediate penalty of a big and small blind plus an additional penalty for every 15 minutes elapsed. Only preregistered players should be dealt in and blinded away, late entries should be seated with a new stack minus the correct amount in relation to blind levels and time elapsed.

I don't like it if people aren't there playing - but I don't see any logical difference between them being at the table and folding every hand and not being there at all.

This is how I feel so far:

1. During the re-buy period, normally 90 mins, if a player arrives after 45 mins or so, they are at a disadvantage.
They have no info to work with, how the others got their chips and invariably will not have too much choice but to add-on at the end. In a freeze-out, the advantage swings more towards a late arrival. The blinds are still small compared to their stack, the biggest stack at worst would have only doubled up. It goes against the principal of basic tournament play where there is now no benefit of knocking someone out.

2. I would go someway and agree with the post's that suggest a bigger forfeit than just a small and big blind. On the lines of an extra 15 mins chip calculation. This more so in a freeze-out.

3. I feel there's nothing wrong with a player missing as many hands as they wish. It's probably to there disadvantage in some way. Although I remember Aces Simon Trumper quadrupling up on the first hand and disappearing to the bar for an hour or so.
