Eurovox - which one to buy?
«
on:

Right. I'm getting a Eurovox whatsit so I don't miss any more sport that's only on Setanta. The fight Barrera v Pacquiao tonight/tomorrow is on Setanta, and that's the final straw.
Anyway, I was thinking of this box:
This one here
Is that the right one to get? Any opinions from those who have one or know someone who does? Some helpful souls on here have advised me previously (mostly RichEO
), but just wanted to check before I order.
Anyone?

If you have cable coming into your house, you get one of these babies and yes, you can get Setanta. Not sure it's legal though...as in, it's not.

You can get a eurovox 2007 for cheaper than the eurovox max V. They are identical in use and functionallity but the max V is the newer black one that look nice (but usally costs £30 more).
I have a eurovox max V and just got a dbox. The dbox can be networked to a PC and you can record to PC, steam TV over network. Change channels or record via network / internet. Stream mp3s divx etc from PC to TV.
You can also get a dreambox, if you happen to want a box with a built in hard drive so you can record to it, (like sky+ or V+) then that's probably the one to get.
Go to a forum like tech watch or digital worldz if you want better answers

If you have cable coming into your house (for TV or broadband) you can get one of these Eurovox things.
Although not legal in the UK (I'm sure they aren't), you can then access loads of cable channels without subscription, including the Setanta channels.

The boxes are perfectly legal.
It's the modified firmware that's loaded on to them and the subsequent use of the box that isn't legal.

I won't be using mine. It's just going to be an ornament.

Or actually, more like your Car. You can use it at normal speeds, or you can speed with it.
The box, you can use it to watch free channels only, or you can alter it. (Or buy it altered).

My car was built to speed. It would be criminal not to...

broadband? I have cable broadband - will it work? Is it possible to split the cable coming in in two so one lot can continue on my broadband and the other go in the back of this box?
This would be so so sweet

Yeah, you can get the digibox for free cable TV, all you need is a splitter as you say. You usually have 2 feeds into you house for cable anyway though.
You can also get free broadband, and 20MBit at that
