Suzanne, If your clash with the NHS ( going back to the MMR vaccine here) has been anything like mine, I totally understand where you are coming from. My 2 daughters have allergies that prohibit them from having the vaccine, and if they were to have it there would be a considerable risk to their health. Now, has the NHS taken this on board when sending out reminders for them to have it?? LOL of course not, I have received in the past phone calls from the doctors and the children's ward on a weekly basis telling me that I am letting the girls down by NOT letting them have it!!! It's in there medical records that they can't have it for goodness sake. Grrrrrrrr.
Now, maybe others view it differently, but when a specialist tells me that the ONLY way that they could possibly have it ( apart from having the single vaccines, and only having 2 of the 3, which you can't have in the UK anyway) is to be admitted to hospital and when they give the injection they will have adrenalin on standby just in case their hearts stop. That to me says NO DAMN WAY!!!!
This has been going on for years since Jennifer was a toddler, she is now 12, Caitlin is only 4 so it looks like it could be going on for a while yet too. So I hope that I now don't have to go through all this with the new "risk", or at least if it is something that they must have a vaccination for( they also both have Asthma, and obviously low immune systems from many chest infections) that it is created in a way that they will be able to take it. If not I have to do what I have had to done with the MMR, rely on as many other people getting vaccinated as possible, to reduce the risk for my own children.

Finding THAT would be better than getting a prize for the 2000th member, but alas, I don't think it exists.

OMG ginger (((big hugs)) someone out there that knows what im going through. I too have searched the internet, books etc and i too have come to the conclusion that my kids have low immune system. To you peeps out there that dont know what it means...if there is a 24hr virus going around..it will hit my kids twice as hard and take three times longer for them to get over. A simple jab to most kids.... could be life threatening to mine. Why is it so unbelievable?? You have nut allergies..gluten..i could go on and on. The point i want to make is that this...I DONT WANT MY KIDS INJECTED WITH ANYMORE CHEMICALS. My grief is with the docs/nurses/midwifes that put pressure on you to do the right thing

When I was little I had the polio vaccince, and it did something a bit strange to me, as apparently my legs stopped working for a while - all is OK now, but my mum stopped me from having any of the other jabs from then on - upside was that I didn't get any more strange reactions, and I didn't have any more problems. Downside was that I caught whooping cough (which I have to say was horrible). But I can't imagine what my life would have been like if my mum didn't put her foot down about the other stuff. I think she got a very hard time from the docs even back then.
I don't know what to say to you mums apart from protect your kids and do the best for them, you don't have to do anything you don't want or think is for the best.
