Tomorrow is Grosvenor Grand Prix Day and yours truly will be alongside Dana to bring you all the ringside action.

This tourneys always a success, which is somewhat odd considering the huge popularity of No Limit Hold'Em in today's game.

Two questions:

(1) Who is going?

and...

(2) Should more Festival Main Events be Pot Limit?

(2) not main events but more PL events across festivals I would welcome..enjoy playing them and think its a test of skill whereas NL at some stages of tournaments is primarily muscle and aggression

Of course the welcome success of the GUKPTs means the traditional festival circuit is marginalised these days, which is a shame but understandable given the crowded nature of the schedule

Assuming that people would be put off if many Festival Main Events were made Pot Limit, is there a particular reason why this one remains so popular? Is it just the location or are people attracted by the idea that it's a qualify only event. Should we have more of these?

1 Its a huge prize pool for a small satellite outlay

2 the event is established in an established venue

3 the field is considered weaker (not sure this is always true) as a lot of the better known festival circuit players don't play it (again not always true but thats the rep)

Why is it the good people of Luton werent interested in this comp? only 10ish qualifiers from there and about 50 from wallsall, including 12 last night. Know its their 'local' but the sats were really poorly attended at luton

Any ideas of the number runners that are expected for the £200 F/O on Saturday at Walsall.

because someone who shall not be named put the satellites in the diary as 50 rebuy not 100 rebuy

Once they were in the diary the club was committed to run them as 50 rebuy , guaranteeing the sats wouldn't make any seats

Add to that erratic scheduling, for example Saturday nights when you won't find many of us anywhere near the place due to the clientele it attracts and you get your answer

Furthermore the 10-20 or so punters who turned up for each sat all agreed to play them as semi-freezeouts...again no chance of Luton providing many players

They were £100 rebuys, I played one and we agreed before we started that we would play as a freezout, i was led to believe that regardless of how many rebuys we had there would still only be 2 tickets for 10 of us so there was no value in rebuying. Is this not the case then?

the early ones were 50 rebuys

for a 100 rebuy it makes seats according to the prize pool generated does it not, or is it a seat per x runners?

I believe the top 15% of each qualifier got through to the event proper (i.e.not based on the prize pool generated)

As for Luton; can't understand why they organised the qualifiers on Saturdays when the majority of the regulars shy away, and the punters who go for a night out want a regular tourney (i.e. the £4k guarantee they were running)

I'd loved to have got through, as I qualified for the minimum for this tourney last year and I think the format and value are great.

More PLHE comps I say...!
