Hi all just a quick note as my internet not yet online. They are so inefficeint out here in Germany Im shocked....
Anyway headed down to Bad Oeyheusen the other night for a recce and played cash... E2.5/5...
I played a very solid game and, as the game was 11 handed, I had a high starting hand requirements. However...
I was the only non German and many knew each other. The standard of play was awful, although it must be said they were v difficult to puit on hands (think uber scandie). First decent hand I got I KK UTG and raised it up x4. I got 7 callers!!! Needless to say the flop wasn#t good and I had to ditch. Throughout I won a few hands and it was apparaent I was never in with trash...BUT....for the most part I was unable to whittle the table down pre flop. I was even raising to 35 (50 in one case) and still getting 5 - 7 callers. Ineevitably one of them usually hit.
I thought this was a bit strange. Lost my first stack, but having witnessed awful play I reloaded. Only to lose again to the same tactics.
On the way home I realised I and another newcomer were the only ones getting so many callers. Have I been playing against a team???

certainly looks like it - suggest you go back and watch them from afar next time - then play other tables which arent playing this way. Nasty stuff.

I don't think so. You ought to come and play the £1-£2 game at Notts - raise it to £15 pre-flop...... 6 callers, quite common. perhaps these people just liked action and to gamble.

So JJ I did think u would call me back, I did not point you in that direction for fun. No you were not playing against a team.This is what you have to adapt to when playing in affluent areas of germany and Switzerland they think its a joke when A TIGHT ARSE american or brit comes in and starts raising they know what u have and they can all call each getting better odds as it goes around. I do not6 want to turn this into a school so PM me......Sorry to sound like I know it all but I have been there and got the T shirt and the Money......... Look up the term implied collusion from some Sklansky book from years ago.....Look forward to a PM as i am curios to know WTF is going on in that neck of the woods.  |

This is common all over in loose small blind cash games. Big Pairs are hard to play. Your better off calling in late position with small pairs & connecting card like   . they are the best value. I had the similar thing in Ireland at the IPO, pot limit had AA in late position raised the pot & got 9 callers. Now What ? luckily flop came K high no straight or flush so raised the pot again hoping for no set or two pair, was tough though. Don't think you were up against a team but you never know. |
