It's a player that gets sponsored for a poker tournament that is not a professional poker player so should it be re-renamed to AP&NPBSAT ? Amateur Professional & Not Professional But Sponsored Association & Tour

So when someone ask's what does APAT stand for........... I believe only .00000000001 % of the poker community fall into the category of pro's so does that mean sponsored non pro's can enter future APAT's comp's??? Can you explain what you mean by "sponsored non pro's" It's a player that gets sponsored for a poker tournament that is not a professional poker player Based on previous APAT threads re: who's a pro it was defined as a player who's income is not soley from poker, which is the majority of players even many of the big name players. Alot of sponsored players have "other" income sources so it's a simple question can sponsored players who are not "poker pro's" under the loose defination of what is a pro can they play in a APAT comp. Some players also get one off comp sponsorship. My point is that the A first in APAT has always been questionable from the beginning since it was created and has become even more dilluted as time has gone on. A stands for anybody as far as I can see. Wrong!! May have been slightly lax at the start but you ask rooks how leniant they are on it now!

Do you honestly think a Pro would want to play in a 2 day £75 buy in comp? A pro who plays in most festivals..............certainly not. An small stakes player who picks up an occassional sponsorship.........maybe, maybe not. The point was a tounge and cheek one at the now almost anybody can play in this amatuer tour and can that include someone lucky enough to get sponsored entry. Can't see why not, their not a f/t pro.

So maybe Apat should ask it's members if it should change it's name. So far we have APATTAP & AP&NPBSAT. Wonder what other new name suggestions we can get.

I have already answered your question above, sponsored players are not allowed to play in APATs, even if they intend to be sponsored for that event alone As implied by KingPoker we have been extremely vigilant on ensuring that pros are not allowed to play tour events. On several occasions we have vetoed entrants on reserarch. On others we have been questioned due to the high profile of a few players. All of these proved to us they had full time occupations outside poker. For the sake of complete clarity, once again, the Tour events are for amateurs and recreational players only. No sponsored players, no pros.

I wouldnt class $11 as a sponsorship. This is called staking a player. Not sponsorship imo

Ok, can staked players who happen to wear certain promotional clothing play in future APAT events.
Sponsorship/staking mere terminology imo.
