We haven't started yet but are close to kick off, so I did my obligatory pre match snapping and these are the fruits of my labour:

Paul Gourlay & Ash Hussain

Ian "I WILL make another final" Cox

The players have now been called over to the tables, so we should be kicking off in just a tick. Meanwhile, I was able to catch up with a jubilant Julian Thew, finally a well known face on the European circuit and accepting congratulatory handshakes from a variety of European hands that may not have given him a second glance previously. Also in the surrounding area was Mickey Wernick, looking calm and collected as usual, Ash 'Trovolta' Hussain, donning the now infamous white jacket, and Ian Cox, surely guaranteed to make the final without moving a muscle.

Plenty of other  Brits playing today, including Jeff Kimber, Paul Gourlay, Ali Mallu, Roland de Wolfe... to name just a few.

What a dreadful choice of venue the R.D.S was.

Looks like a cow shed.

€8000/$11,500 entry tournament. There are far better locations. Embarassing, why did the pick it? :-/

I can't tell why they chose this venue, but personally I like it.  It has character, tall ceilings, colour - what else do you need?  My only gripe would be the size compared to the field, but no moaning of cramped conditions here!
