We're still on Level 1, but on the very first round we were treated to an all-in, and what an unusual one it was too, Mariano Peterlongo pushing all-in over the top of Seamus' McGilligan's paltry in comparison 550 bet on what was a seemingly innocent Jack high Flop. A suited and booted McGilligan looked understandably bemused, but he did take a few moments to mull it over, so must have had a decent piece of the board. However, he did inevitably make the fold, and was left to scratch his head in confusion as the Italian in Seat 1 snapped up the pot with his uber, and perhaps paranoid aggression.

-------------

Nobody will be kicking my Scrabble winning ass anytime soon, although rumour has it that Ram Vaswani will have plenty of time to practice this week as he's just bitten Irish EPT dust. News spreads quicker than Summerbay in this pressroom, but according to that 90% reliable grapevine, Ram was all-in on the Turn with a mere gutshot, which ultimately missed.

I guess he truly he is one of those guys who like to gamble early doors in order to accrue a chip-leading stack.

Yes its indeed true.  Think most people missed the action live but I managed to ask Ian Cox who was Ram's table mate how the action went.  Most people on the table didn't seem to know and were all shell shocked at the quickness of events.  The flop in question was:

 three clubs

Ram called a 2k bet on the flop holding    The turn brought

where the action was checked to Ram who then pushed the lot in.  Mateyboy called with  and Ram's ultra aggresive push was not rewarded by the river.

Final figure for today is actually 132 players by the way!

Brace yourself for a truly bizarre hand, folks, and one which even triggered table observer Roland de Wolfe into saying, "I've never seen a hand like that before."

It all started so innocently, everyone limping around to Ali Mallu in the small blind. Ali bet 225 with Aces, as you might expect, only for everyone to fold. Either expressing his frustration of not reaching the Flop or simply wanting to show the table that he had the goods, Ali revealed his hand, but was then informed by the dealer that Raul Mestre Lleida, seated the other side of the dealer, had called from the button in Seat 9.

A stunned silence ensued, until the dealer broke the eerie quiet by exclaimed "Ruling!". As always, Thomas Kremser strode over like the King of England ready to utilise his experience in the field of tournament directing. "Tell me exactly what happened," he demands. After the dealer had retold the tale, Thomas adds in a monotone, but highly authoritative voice, "Okay, the hand is live and play will continue."

On that note, the dealer dealt out a Flop. "Can I bet?" asks Mallu. After receiving the approving nod from Big TK, Ali bet out 200, but ran into an inevitable re-raise from the Spaniard Lledia who made it 2k to play, a bet of which prised an unreluctant giggle from Roland and a couple of others on the table, the Wolfman even commenting, "I'm putting him (Ali) on Aces."

However, those giggles soon turned into gasps as Ali rose from his chair dominantly and shoved all his chips across the line. Lleida called like lightening, which was probably a signal that he was ahead, and proudly turned over . Funnily enough, Ali didn't need to go to the effort of turning his cards over, the dejected look on his face telling a more extensive story than anything on the felt ever could.

However, we all know how much fun the Poker Gods can have at our expensive, and with a small crowd of poker flies gathering around the table, the dealer dealt out first a harmless two spades, followed by a counterfeiting , a River that I was secretly hoping for if only for the sadistic entertainment value rather than any subjective bias.

Basher Mallu jumped into the heavens and punched the air with delight as his Spanish foe looked on in dismay, his fly catching mouth-gaping expression fully expressing his feelings of dismay. A pumped up Mallu mumbled celebrations to himself as all onlookers glanced back down at the felt in amazement.

So, a double up for the Brit, but what do you think of the hand? And what about the ruling, was that the correct decision?

wow, sick hand with mallu.

i guess kremser knows the rules better than any of us, but i always thought u could call but not bet/raise if you had exposed your cards. very strange one though

just spoke to stu rutter.. on 8k after flopping second nut flush against levi's nut flush

Yes, Stuart Rutter is indeed on 8k after clashing with Levi. Luckily, he got away cheap, just flat call-in a bet on every street with K-T vs. A-9 after both flopped the goods on a Q-J-4 board.

-----------

The players are still on a break, but I did manage to catch up with the odd couple, Praz Bansi and Karl Mahrenholz (Karl's the tidy one, if you're wondering). At the moment, Karl is also the one with the tidy stack, now up to 18k whilst Praz struggles with 11k. "They keep calling," comments the bracelet winner. "One day I'll get a hand."

Bad news for the father son Gould combo, well for the Dad actually.  Josh is still on his starting stack but Peter Gould is out, Josh told me the news and said his dad just mumbled at him and didn't actually comprehend how he went out.   Josh was happy enough with his progress thoough but stated that "2 out of 4 of us OUT already ain't good!"  I am asuming he means Ram here.

--------------

Reigning champion Roland De Wolfe is OUT with top two pair against a straight flush draw which straight flushed on the Turn.

--------------

Cheeky Geordie and moonlighting Rocket Man Paul Gourlay is up to pace-setting 29,000. According to the horse's mouth, he ground his way up to 19,000 before finding those Pocket Cowboys (yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaa, ride em cowboy  ) and re-raising Kevin O'Connell's Flop raise from late position. Both Kevin and 'stuck-in-the middle' Mark Roland called, subsequently seeing a T-6-4 Flop with two hearts.

Kevin bet out 2.5k, Mark called, and Paul made it 7.5k. Both players moved out the way, leaving Paul to take a nice pot uncontested.

Watch out, folks, the Rocket Man's picking up steam and ready for launch.

Just saw an interesting hand develop between Ben Grundy & Luca Pagana.  It started with Grundy raising to 575 under the gun and Luca reraising to 1,425 in total.  Ben called, the flop was

two spades   Check from Ben, Luca bet 1,125.  Ben reraised another 1,875, 3k total.

All these actions from both players were delibarate, thought out and slow, no bang, bang with these two.  At this point Luca reraises again, calling the extra 1,875 and making it another 5K to Ben!

Ben says  "Urrghhhh"  right from the belly and "so sick!"

Then pushes all in, after throwing in the 5K its only another 3,750 to Luca Pagano whose total stack at this point is about 6k so if he gets it wrong, it doesn't leave him with much.  He deliberates, looks uncomfotable - and PASSES to the shock of the large spectators.  Even to the shock of Ben Grundy who actually pyschically jumped in his seat and excitedly turned over the  only!  Hmmm,  Ben was left raking in a great size pot (about 23K) and Luca was left with his head down sighing.

Ash Hussain is on 30k (I counted 28 or 29k, but he said 30k sounded better). It took two hand really, the first seeing him bet out 525 with the mighy two hearts on a Flop and calling a re-raise to 1,600. Both players checked the Flop, and then Ash pumped out 2.5k on the River to force his opponent to fold. And oh yes, that 3 high was shown. Soon after, a three was busy again, this time actually giving Ash a hand when he flopped a set of threes, action on every street providing him with the stack he currently enjoys.

I'm afraid I don't know what happened to Stuart Rutter but he has gone in the last 10 minutes!

Not great news for the 2 Hitsquaders here, Praz lost a hefty pot holding JT suited on a J 9 8 board but the  and the club river gave four clubs on board and the flush with Aces for mateyboy.  Praz currently on 4,400.

Karl Mahrenholz was fairing a little better but just got involved in a pot with Alan Vinson and another mateboy no less.  I arrived after the river  Roll Eyes on this board

Alan Vinson bet out 2,500 and Karl reraised to 7,000.  Mateyboy just made the call and Alan passed, leaving Karl a little annoyed at being shown Q9 for two pair, although Karl was indicating that whatever mateyboy had must have been good!  Busted flush perhaps? Karl now on 7,000.

Alan Vinson now on 16,000

Praz Bansi is now OUT, and wondering if he will ever get that vital luck or just the avoidance of bad luck would be sufficient.  After beeing knocked down low he picked up pockets tens and must have been happy to be up agasint 66.  That was until his oppo made a straight with his 6 and Praz could have done with not hitting trip tens on this occassion.
