Tourneys in Vegas
«
on:
November 02, 2007, 08:01:49 PM »
Im off to Vegas for a week on the 7th.
Not been for 18 months and went with my better half the last time. Am going with a guy from work this time.
Basically wanting to know what are currently the better tourneys to play, upto around the $100 mark.
Can be defined as poor players at a particular place, or maybe a good tourney for the craic. Just wanted to get some ideas off anyone whos been over there this year.

I like the T.I room, its smaller than most, but very well run, they run 4 daily $60 rebuys , Ive cashed there on a few occasions.
The planet hollywood has a new room which is supposed to be very good - they run the 'grinder' tournament on certain days where there is a bounty on the local grinders head of $300 (
Michael
Mizrachi
), Ive read on some local forums that it is considred an easy room due to the tourists.
Im off on the 15th , and will be playing both of these, I wouldnt mind giving the $540 venetian a go aswell - supposed to get a lot of runners that one.
heres a list if youre interested -

Harrahs hold a $60 + 1 rebuy for $40 event about 4 times a day.
Not the biggest cardroom, but it was good fun.

I was in Vegas over the bash weekend and the following week and I found loads of low entry tourneys, my main gripe is that the juice is sometime too rich with sometimes only 67% going to the prize pool?
My fav low entry was at the Planet Hollywood with a nice 4K and 15min structure at least it gives some play time. There are at least four a day, plus check out the buffet, to die for!!
If funds stretch I would really recommend the daily comps at the Venetian $150 in the PM and $130 + $50r/b in the evening. Simply the best card room in vegas IMO. The structure is great loads of chips and comparative slow clock, the best news is that I don't rate the general standard of play, I went deep in the two I played!!
I played SNG's at the Mirage, they also have a great range of games, 7CS, Omaha H/L, although the card room is looking a little tired.
Its also worth a venture downtown to Binnions as they have well run daily tourneys, not too pricey.
In terms of cash 1/2 NL is everywhere although stick to the tourist joints for easy pickings i.e. Excalibur, Luxor, Tropicana all yummy!!
Have a great time, I certainly did.

Cheers Stone.
$100 not the limit, just around abouts to leave plenty of scope for playing and not worrying too much about bankroll.
Am defo looking at the Venetian, and the Wynn as they seem to be very nice card rooms. Will also look at Ceasers comps (if grandad can score a profit there anyone can
).
Is the general standard still the same in Vegas i.e. they will play any ace and cant let go if an ace flops, and push all the way if they catch top pair? Seemed the standard play last time I went.
Only a few hours till I need to get up (4 am), might play a couple of tourneys online to prepare.

Venetian card room is beautiful. They run a $180 at 8pm most nights. Get there early as you need to register for a players card to enter the tourney (different queue).

how did you get on vegaslover?
I just came back yesterday, I mde 2nd in the TI $65 rebuy for $700, and made $550 on the $1/$2 NL table at the MGM.
Mind you, I spent all that on boozing, eating and spearmint rhinos.
Unfortunately the Planet hollywood room was closed as it was the grand opening, so didnt get to play there, saw a load of stars though.
twas a good 4 days.

Just got back today, the venetian tournaments are great value, full of very average players. The Saturday tourney is $500, 10k in chips and a 1 hour clock. The planet hollywood tourny was full of even worse players but be prepared for some bad beats, all my mates had few bad beat stories to tell after playing there. Another good place for tourneys is the sahara, they have three a day, at 11am, 7pm and 11pm, and the elvis show was excellent. And for the best ribs in the world get to ellis island. Enjoy.
