Cheers guys.
We got engaged a few months back, but we only decided on this gig a few weeks ago.
Sitting and discussing preliminary wedding plans and ideas on the sofa we were. The potential problems of the expense, what to do with her divorced (and never been in the same room together for the 12 years since) parents etc etc.
We toyed with the idea of just going to a registry office and do it without telling anyone.
The notion that began as a half-joke, gathered a kind of romantic momentum. Our 15 days notice (required in Scotland for civil marriages) was lodged, and neither of us backed down in the meantime.
The sky above us was unseasonly blue on the day, as just me and the good wife enjoyed relaxing activities. Lou Reed coulda sung a song about so he could.
We didn't tell anyone in our family beforehand (was tough keeping schtum.) We stuck a lot of first class stamps on announcement cards in the postbox on the day, so they all found out this morning or when they came back from work. (Phone has been busy)
It doesn't feel like we're getting married just because she's pregnant. I already knew I was going to spend my life with her anyway so it wasn't going to bother me if bump was born a bastard.
It just felt like the right thing to do, I'm really happy.
No honeymoon just now, I went straight to work at 6am today. I'm opting to take all my time off when the babi is born instead. Traditional schmaditional
Sorry for going on, Cairn's been hogging the phone for a while, I'm still buzzing, so I couldn't help myself having a wee chirp here. Ship it, holla etc
