PLO Tourney - Live MTT - Blinds $2k/$4k - You are second in chips with $135,000 playing a tight solid game. 7 are left and you are in the money, usual top-heavy pay-out is 1st-3rd. You are on the button.

Villian has $140,000 and is the chip leader. He is very-aggressive and tricky opponent - very hard to read and is in the cut-off.

You are in the small blind with As three clubs Two Clubs

UTG and UTG+1 fold, UTG+2 calls (tight solid player) calls - Cut-off folds - Chip leader on the cut-off calls. You also call and the big blind checks (No small blind as a player just exited in 8th). Pot is now $16,000 - 4 players

Flop is two spades

BB checks, UTG+2 checks, CO pots it $16,000k. You have flopped the wheel and two-pair. You call. The other two players fold. Pot is now $48,000

Turn is (So possible flush)

CO checks and you check

River is 10c (Pretty much a blank)

CO now bets $40,000, pot is now $88,000. Do you call, fold or raise? What do you put him on? Apologies for the layout but the drag n drop for the cards didn't work.

I think I just call here, I cant  see that a raise is a good move because I cant think what worse hand would call.

He bet pot on the flop which may mean that he is trying to protect his hand or has a nice draw. But if he hits is draw on the turn after betting the flop I cant see why he would then check.

Its also hard what to put him on in an unraised pot, I think he has a simalar hand to you, maybe something like  , or he couldve been betting something like
and is trying to bluff the river you both checked the turn.

I would have raised his flop bet with my made hand that is vulnerable to bigger straight draws and a fd.  I think since you haven't you now find yourself on the end of a tricky bet on the river after you call his bet on the flop i get the impression he has checked hoping you will lead out and he can come OTT, anyway thats by the by.

On the river I just call, you only have 2nd nut straight any flush is beating you and there is a bigger straight out there.

I'd call, not because I necessarily think I'm winning but I think the call gives you far more info on what sort of plays the big stack is making at this stage of the tournament plus with the made hand it's not tyhe worst call in the world anyway. I just think that given you are struggling to read him this maybe 40,000 well spent even if it does damage you in the process (you've still got 15 times the BB left and will be armed with far more info. if you do lose this hand).

Thanks for the comments so far, I'll wait for another few then post the results, which I think are quite surprising.

fold.

if he is aggressive and tricky by which i assume you think he is good?

on the flop he bets with all likelyhood of being c/r by a shortstack or raised by you who all got in cheap and flopped good
He checks on the turn either to induce a bluff (raising again is telegraphing his hand) or he's scared of the flush and this is your oppotunity to make your move and you don't
You check which tells him you are unlikely to be holding it (the nut flush at least)
At the river it is easy to summise that your most likely holdings are a smaller straight or trips
Neither of which can easily call a hefty bet

Or he can also be almost certain that his nut straight on the flop is still good.

Given that there are so many hands that beat you and only the only hand you beat is trips, it's definately a fold for that size of bet.

And if he has bluffed you then just think, great bet coz i couldn't call it.

Thanks for the replies. Kind of cheating a bit this hand was actually taken from the 2007 WSOP $5,000 w/buy-ins event. The aggressive player was The Devilfish and Eric Cajelais (don't know the spelling) was the guy that flopped the wheel and two pair.

I was just amazed at how strange Cajelais played this hand. I can maybe see why he just called on the flop - Devilfish may have some sort of high wrap hand with two diamonds and he doesn't want to race for the chips but personally I would have raised the flop, just calling also gives the ones behind you pot odds to hit their draw and a chance to outdraw you.

Although a scare card came on the turn, The Fish checks and he checks quickly behind? His flop and river play really stumps me. At this stage of the game surely he must bet one of these streets? Then after the river bet he folds almost immediately??

Devilfish had trip and then almost immediately said to Cajelais "Did you flop the wheel?"

Am I missing something here or is this really poor play by Cajelais? Where's his bollocks?

On another note does anyone know of any regular low-limit LIVE Omaha MTTs that are played at casinos in the Edinburgh/Glasgow area?

The cincinnati club tried it mate but couldn't get the numbers even tried various formats including a £5 bingo rebut that was great fun, £30 freezeout and a limited rebuy tourney but never really took off.

The Wabash used to have what looked like a decent Omaha tourney but I heard it struggles to fill two tables.
