Must admit I found Marty and his staff excellent during my time at Maidstone. Everything was done very professionally. With regards the Norwegian, totally out of order with the first comment, talking during the pot for the second offence( so what) having listened to Jamie Gold during WSOP 2006, he said absolutely nothing wrong. Third offence could have been waived, but putting all three together and the bleatings of Texas and the Mad Monk, who I must say treats everyone at the table like school children with him being the teacher, I don't think Marty had any other option.

Matchtoom don't pander to any 'poker superstars' and would have treated JH & AB the same. However would JH & AB have taken the punishment with the same grace as young skandie luny?

To be fair he had been warned over & over,it was obviously down to nerves .
The big name players used their status (and experience).Simply it was experienced players taking advantage of the situation, you see that in every sport.
The best thing that could have happened though was the time penalty as he came back chilled out.
I don't think marty would have made the same decision if it was the other way round but I don't think that the Danish Lad was ever going to make the same arguement. Experience counts.

Marty apparently warned the kid that unless he behaved, he'd tell them one of his (3) stories. The frozen bird, the golf-ball, or his Brother's Diary. The last is the one they all fear, it's 4 hours, & so amounts to elimination from the Comp.

Just a few points.

Tomas is a nice lad but the penalty he got was fully deserved.Marty did his best for the kid ,gave him both warnings and advice but the kid just couldn't help himself.A lot of TDs wouldn't have bothered. In the post match interview and in the hotel for the days between the semi and the final the kid had no complaints and as someone else has pointed out the penalty did him a world of good both in the semi and  in his subsequent appearance in the final.

As regards the allegation that others would have been treated differently I have to agree. If any of the pros had committed the first offence  for which Tomas received a warning (ie advising the German to call Hewston's all in raise) they would have quite rightly been penalised immediately.

The Matchroom guys did a great job of calming Tomas down during his penalty .It worked.

The pros might have emerged with more credit if instead of giving unnecessary advice  and shouting when the dealer was trying to explain what she had heard to the  td .Perhaps it might have been a little nicer if they had given the kid a little friendly advice.

I wasn't too impressed with the sudden injection of the  speed into the game when the Dane was serving his sentence.Perhaps penalties should be   imposed in terms of hands rather than time.

This seems a very sensible idea - especially when levels are measured by number of hands, as they seem to be on several of these TV tourneys.

Padraig tells it as he, & many of us, see it - the Pros did not exactly cover themselves with glory by the way they handled themselves here.

A great Maiden Post on blonde by the legend that is Padraig Parkinson.

Post more, Padraig!
