Please appraise this hand from both perspectives

Button raises to 14 with  , playing 440

SB calls

BB flat calls with  , playing 480

42 in pot

flop  Two Diamonds

blinds check

Button bets 36

SB folds

BB calls 36

turn  three clubs

BB checks

Button bets 80

BB calls

River

BB checks

Button pushes all in

BB calls having housed up, and scoops

what do you think of the BB check on flop with middle set?

what do you think of button push on river?

how would you play it differently as either player?

I like the Buttons flop bet rather than slow playing, but i hate his push on th end, i'm checking it now the board has paired...

I agree. I also like how BB played it, its super passive but if aggro player is betting all the way i dont mind it.

I like buttons play apart from the shove on the end as im not sure what he wants his shove to get looked up by, I make a smaller value bet and consider folding to a shove. This may well be exploitable on the river but so few people will exploit this by bluff check raising the river that I think its fine.

Button I suppose pf flop is fine though i kind like squezzing a button raise here and taking it down preflop. Postflop i personally lead a set on a monotone board but given he has a read on button, his line looks fine. I like his play on the river as played as if he bets out he doesn't get full value from button bluffing or betting a made flush etc.
