Hello folks, my name is Allan Brown, I'm a journalist with The Sunday Times, researching a feature on the poker scene in Scotland who would welcome all thoughts from forum members to be quoted in the feature, particularly on why poker has nudged so effectively into the mainstream lately, how purists feel about this sudden popularity and what poker has that other games do not. All thoughts appreciated, particularly with full names and cities of residence.
Thanks in anticipation,
Allan Brown

poker has the abilty for anyone to compete against anyone no matter there sex age or disabilty the only thing you need is the abilty to buy into the game but if you cant afford too buy in there is a smaller game somewhere nearby
aberdeen the buy ins range from £10- £200 but there are also £5 buy ins at rileys
players range from the students all the way up to iris a retired older lady and on any given day any one can win be in by luck or a little bit of skill

To be fair ... Its all about what the game can hold and appeal to anyone ...not just our Scottish correspondents... The thrill of winning money the chance to sit down with champions online...and even in the B & M (Bricks and mortar...live card rooms).. On one of the Televised Poker Shows I believe it was the WPT (world Poker Tour) Mike Sexton says "it takes moments to learn and a lifetime to master" The growth of Poker is good for all of us ...Poker is non Sex specific...treat a lady as a soft touch and you'll be walking away from the table with your chips in front of her..It's a game of skill and luck .... some would argue that it's all luck ... If thats the case then the poker professionals are the luckiest people on the planet... As Ironside points out age and disability count for nothing in our "sport" Its one of the greatest contact sports without any contact been made... Its frivilous but fun... It has it all going for it.. It's nudged into the mainstream so effectively because it can be played online and live... You then have social networks like these where most every aspect of Poker and every other topic is discussed... Poker has great personlities attached to it to ... It doesn't matter who you are ... or what you do for a living.. Everyone can play ....

Oh joy, I'm told that this has been published in the "Ecosse" pullout of the Sunday Times & despite expressly asking not to be quoted (as a losing player I don't particularly want to be quoted in the press - I'll just sound off on here) - I've been quoted in the article, which at the moment I've not seen..... Looks like Swordpker's previous experience wasn't unique & I should have learned from it. Ho Hum.
