I saw an 18yo Strong bowler going for £1.55m. Bargain I thought, I can buy him use him for the first few matches of next season (when the cup will hit PFL) and sell him for a profit.

So I shortcut him to come back to later and bid.

And forgot.

And no one else bid.

Picked this guy up this morning for 70k, going to put him in stamina nets til start of next season - but overall with him only having mediocre batting is that too much?

(his stats are much better than my current keeper so he's first choice)

Plays For: Matts Monkeys
Nationality: England
Age: 28 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 15,338 (+359)
Wages: £1,609 p/w

Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: proficient
Batting: mediocre Concentration: proficient
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: competent
Fielding: respectable

I just shipped out another £1,333,391 of my funds and bought 2 more players.

I think I can ship them out for £1mill a piece in 6 weeks time...

RH Batsman, RM Bowler, strong batting form, strong bowling form, invigorated
A  destructive player with competent leadership skills and abysmal experience.

Plays For:    Bigglesthwaite CC
Nationality:    England
Age:    17 Years Old
Battrick Rating:    5,824 (+258)
Wages:    £830 p/w
Stamina:    mediocre    Wicket Keeping:    worthless
Batting:    worthless    Concentration:    worthless
Bowling:    proficient    Consistency:    mediocre
Fielding:    abysmal

Just popped, but I think an 18yo prof can fetch more than the £700k... I paid.

RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, strong batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A  defensive player with worthless leadership skills and mediocre experience.

Plays For:    Bigglesthwaite CC
Nationality:    England
Age:    28 Years Old
Battrick Rating:    11,063 (-218)
Wages:    £1,292 p/w
Stamina:    competent    Wicket Keeping:    abysmal
Batting:    proficient    Concentration:    competent
Bowling:    abysmal    Consistency:    respectable
Fielding:    mediocre

£620k, should help to strengthen my batting line up a bit - which is helpful for my tough FC game next week Wink

Here's one that might have you scratching your heads... cost me 295k

44. Alex Unsworth (1609907)

LH Batsman, RM Bowler, woeful batting form, competent bowling form, energetic
A  steady player with worthless leadership skills and worthless experience.

Plays For:   Gorseybrigg old boys
Nationality:   England
Age:   17 Years Old
Battrick Rating:   5,509 (+551)
Wages:   £1,363 p/w

Stamina:   abysmal   Wicket Keeping:   respectable (popped first week of nets so comp when bought)
Batting:   proficient   Concentration:   worthless
Bowling:   worthless   Consistency:   worthless
Fielding:   worthless

I've got him scheduled for one bat, one fitness, one wk and one field until he turns 20 - what will his ratings be then (assuming he's just popped in batting) ?

I don't need him to play next season (just as well!!!) as I have two batsmen/wickies and a third who can stand in at a stretch, although he plays more as a specialist fielder at the moment.

Bargain or robbed?

Stamina is a bit of an issue, secondaries less so as they will fly up on bat, wk & field.

I think he'll prove to be an OK buy but you may need to train him past 20 if his secondaries haven't caught up.

How many managers with wk trainees get told their secondaries will be too low at 20 Grin ?

Think he's a decent keeper for V. He'll be ok until you promote to IV and you've got loads of cash so 70k isn't a lot to you, so yes, once he's had a fitness pop or two he'll be ok. For 70k, I would want the stamina a level higher if I'm being picky.

i wouldn't bother with stamina nets, keepers don't seem to need stamina, in OD he'll never bat long enough to need it, in FC he might, but i think you'd make better gains elsewhere.

Lol, this is my first season in Div V having won promotion from Div VI at the first time of asking with a squad that was better than average for Div VI but not as good as your average Div V squad - thoughts of promotion to Div IV are a couple of seasons away yet!! Cheesy

Here's my two most recent purchases for £17k each.   First as one to train up for resell and second to have one bowler who can actually hold a bat.  Roll Eyes   Ideally Nel will have mediocre consistency but net room is a bit tight currently!

Nicholas Shipp
Plays For: Athletico Foxy
Nationality: England
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 2,734 (+19)
Wages: £459 p/w

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: woeful
Fielding: worthless

Caleb Nel
Plays For: Athletico Foxy
Nationality: New Zealand
Age: 25 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 3,023 (-79)
Wages: £604 p/w

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: feeble
Bowling: competent Consistency: feeble
Fielding: worthless

Now 29 in squad so will be trying to sell a few soon!

Two purchases this weekend:

1.
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 5,223
Wages: £1,208 p/w

Stamina: abysmal Wicket Keeping: mediocre
Batting: respectable Concentration: woeful
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: woeful
Fielding: worthless

Cost me £23k, so I'm reckoning on training him to proficient and seeing if someone will pay 500k+ for him...

2.
Age: 18 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 13,515 (+443)
Wages: £2,508 p/w

Stamina: competent Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: superb Concentration: feeble
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: abysmal
Fielding: abysmal

Cost me £2.5m, so planning on getting him upto remarkable batting, and upping those secondaries to something half decent by the end of next season, then hopefully sell on for £6m. Not sure if i slightly overpaid though - any thoughts?

Doubt you'll get £500k+ for player 1 even after training. Should make a nice profit though.

#2 looks to be a decent buy, you will need to get the secondary up though so probably have to give him 1xbat 1xfield, and hope! Wink
