Our first night open to the public was a huge success, we were sold out with 23 alternates, 11 of which got in . The slightly altered structure and 4000 chips allowed the comp to finish at 4am when the remaining 4 agreed to a chip count, eventually i want to cap at 135 a night and finish around 3.30 to 4am so i may have to look at removing a level later on.

There were 7 cash games from £0.50 £1 No Limit to £2 £5 No Limit and £5 £5 dealers choice. We also ran 8 STT and could have had more if we had spare dealers.

12 players came from Hull and will be returning for the weekend with up to 20 more !

I have no doubt tonight will sell out as well so i recommend you get here early, in future if you wish to secure your seat use the registration facility on DTD by 12am the previous day.

We will be hiring more experienced dealers within the next week and also start a training school on Saturday which will finish end of December.

There is no doubt the atmosphere here is special, unlike anywhere i have ever played, everyone seems to respect the venue and enjoys the experience.

Cheers

Played the tourney  ( only for 10 mins ) and cash till about 230am.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Rob , Nick and all the staff at dtd.

There was a buzz about the place last night and a great atmosphere.

It is a unique experience and i'm just glad Rob doesn't live in scotland !!

Dtd is setting the standard.... one which I doubt others in the industry can match !!

I can feel the excitement in your post Simon, So very glad it has been a success but there was never no doubt that it would be anything other. Can not wait to return.

I know this is a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but here goes anyway.

What is the likelihood that DTD will open earlier and have midday competitions on weekends? Sunday afternoon tournies are pretty popular in the casinos that have them and a game that started at say 4pm would allow for a good structure and let those folks that do have real jobs to get home at a decent time.

DTD rules btw, cant we just make it 24 hours 7 days a week please?

Like most people that first ever heard of this conception of Rob & Nicks, I have been waiting like a lioness about to feast on a antelope, for 2 long years for dtd to open its doors.  Then when it did, I couldn't go to the opening weekend's tournaments due to updating commitments (gutted).  I only managed to get the media freeroll evening, which was great anyway but not the same.

So the opening weekend to the public this weekend, can't make any night due to previous engagements again but managed to turn up last night at 11pm to witness a majestic sight.  As Simon said the tournament was full and listing alternates but what warmed my cockles was the sight of numerous cash tables of all monetary ranges, SNG's & satellites to future comps all in full swing.

Also the variety of players you can mix with, from your postman, fireman & other casino's staff to EPT winners, TV personalities (I use that term loosely) and seasoned hard core pro players.  It just excites me to the core all this being on my doorstep and I'm sure Rob Yong has a lump in his throat seeing this episode of his life finally come to fruition last night.

Well done you guys and well done Mr Trumper for 1,000 % professionalism and looking after the customer.

All planned for and more when we have sufficient dealers.

Delighted to hear about the proposed change in structure. Living an hour and a half away and working the only thing that puts me off coming up during the week is the very late finish the next morning. If I can expect to get away by three or four am somehow it doesn't seem so bad once a week.

Thanks for listening

We will be having a weekly meeting to decide what is in the best interests of the players.

Next week this will include starting later on Fridays to allow for players travelling, opening and starting earlier Sundays for players working.

Although we only had 64 players for last nights £100,

Several reasons, Luton had a festival event, Broadway had a £7500 guaranteed £20 rebuy , several players tried to register online not knowing it has to be done by midnight the day before and players having heard we were sold out with alternates Thursday didnt want to drive down if there was a chance we could be sold out again. Players will get used to the idea of registering in advance or buying in for future events while in the club and also that we allow late registration for the first hour.

We had another 90 players turn up to play cash games and STT, there were 7 games including £0.50 £1 No Limit £1 £2 No Limit £2 £5 No Limit and a £2 £2 and £5 £5 Dealers Choice , They started between 8.20 and 10.30 and 3 of them went on till 6am !

The competition even with only 64 players ended in a 5 way chip count at 3am so i will look at the structure again to see how best to alter it to finish around 3am even with our initial cap of 108 and without changing the 30 minute clock.

Yes, since we opened we have had an average of +85% over our budgeted attendances , it has been very surprising, especially the number of people coming for STT's and Cash Games, but these figures have been inflated by novelty value, when I re-fitted my pub I had double the budgeted people in for the first 2 weeks, but after that, customers tailed off, people went back to their old locals where they had drank/eaten for many years, so we have to expect this with DTD. Its nice that so many people have visited us, but we need to be realistic about the demand for a poker only venue in Nottingham outside of festivals and major events, where I am sure we will get 500+,

thanks for all of the support top everyone that has came to visit so far, and your comments to me and my staff.

Cheers Rob

Simon/Rob

MTT Structure - I can tell you from having played in last night's £100FO that its not actually that far wrong. From level four onwards, the average stacks (that'll be me then) are under some pressure with less than 20BB and struggling to call a reraise without committing your stack. I guess it depends on what you're trying to achieve. There was a fair amount of play (certainly more than a crypto online MTT), which I suppose could be classed as a decent benchmark given that's your chosen online skin.

Attendance - put on a free minibus from Derby and you'll have at least two attendees every week, Rob Smiley
