I have treated myself to this for Chrimbo ( well the wife and kids did )

Dell Inspiron 1720

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5250 (1.50 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2-cache)

OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium - English

HARDWARE SUPPORT  1 Year Base Warranty - Collect & Return

COLOUR CHOICE Jet Black Colour with Matte Finish & 2.0mp camera (you can also choose from quite a few colours)

LCD 17.0" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife™ 17.0" ::Widescreen WXGA+ (1440x900) TFT Display with TrueLife™ [subtract £89.99]

MEMORY 2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]  (A must for Vista)

HARD DRIVE 320GB (5400RPM) SATA Dual Hard Drives (2X160GB)

GRAPHICS CARD nVidia® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS with 128MB DDR2 dedicated graphic memory  (A must for Vista)

OPTICAL DRIVE Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive including Software

PRIMARY BATTERY Primary 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (56 WHr)

Also has wifi, card reader and a built in 2MP webcam

£768.99

If you take off the better resolution screen it brings it down to your price range but if you multi table would be worth the extra.

Incredible value when you consider little more than a year ago a similar spec lappy would be nearly twice the price.
